The Holy Spirit – Part 1

The Holy Spirit - Third Person of the Trinity

This is part 1 in a series on the Holy Spirit.

The series will include topics like the gifts of the Spirit as well as the fruit of the Spirit.  I felt it was important to cover this as it goes hand in hand with the 2019 prophetic word and I am sure many of you have questions on this topic.

First, I understand that there are different denominations who believe different things about the Godhead and salvation so I want to start off by saying these are my own views after much study, prayer, contemplation and my own personal testimony which I will share in this post.

Who is the Holy Spirit?

Some people may say what is the Holy Spirit but He is not what but who.  He is the third Person of the Trinity.  We serve a Triune God.  There is God the Father (Abba Father), God the Son (Jesus, Yeshua) and God the Holy Spirit (Ruach Hakodesh, Ruach Elohim).  They were all three in the beginning that created the earth.

Genesis 1:1-2 Names of God Bible (NOG) “In the beginning Elohim created heaven and earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep water. The Ruach Elohim was hovering over the water.”

So we see the Holy Spirit was hovering over the water when the earth was without form.

Further in verses 26 & 27 we see that Elohim created man in His own image.

26 Then Elohim said, “Let us make humans in our image, in our likeness. Let them rule the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the domestic animals all over the earth, and all the animals that crawl on the earth.”

27 So Elohim created humans in his image.
In the image of Elohim he created them.
He created them male and female.

Do you notice how it goes from saying in “our image” to “His image”.  This is the picture that God is three in one.  One God with three parts and three distinct functions.

Not to minimize God but it would be like saying ice, hail & snow – these are 3 different things but all water.

God the Son is also in the beginning and in the old testament.  He is the second Person of the Trinity who has a body; hence, in Genesis 3:8 it says He was walking around in the garden.  You can’t walk if you don’t have legs.  This is actually Jesus Christ in the garden of Eden.

The Spirit hovers and Jesus walks.

God made man in His own image and likeness, this means that just as He has 3 parts we too have parts – mind, body, soul, spirit.  It is important for you to know this because it is going to answer some questions later on.

How do you get saved?

When you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, it is not only the work of Jesus.  It is the work of the Godhead.  The Trinity is involved in your salvation.

Many times we read the sinners prayer or we hear people lead others to Christ and they only talk about Jesus.  Yes, Jesus is the only way to salvation but the actual work of salvation involves the Trinity.

Read John 14.

Yeshua answered him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one goes to the Father except through me. If you have known me, you will also know my Father. From now on you know him through me and have seen him in me.”

To get to the Father in heaven you must come by way of the Son.

15 “If you love me, you will obey my commandments. 16 I will ask the Father, and he will give you another helper who will be with you forever. 17 That helper is the Spirit of Truth. The world cannot accept him, because it doesn’t see or know him. You know him, because he lives with you and will be in you.”

Once you accept Jesus the Son, He asks God to send the Holy Spirit who then not only lives with you but lives in you.

So the work of salvation is complete when you receive all Three.

It is impossible for you to change if you don’t have the Holy Spirit within you. Impossible.  If you could change yourself you would have done it a long time ago!  But, you can’t.  It is the Spirit of God within you the brings about the changes, permanent changes.  He is the one who regenerates and restores you from the inside out.

When people say they want to change a few things, clean up themselves, before they come to God…this is not possible because you’ll never get yourself clean enough for God.  That is His job, not yours!

Jesus says (John 6:44 NOG) “People cannot come to me unless the Father who sent me brings them to me.”

You can’t come to Jesus unless the Father first starts drawing you to Jesus.

A snippet of my personal testimony

Prior to becoming a Christian (born again believer in Jesus Christ), I must have said the sinners prayer 16 times!  Every time things weren’t going my way I would run to church “please dear God, I’m about to get fired, I’m going to give my life to you so you can let me keep my job”  He would let me keep my job then I would just go back to doing exactly what I was doing before.

The sinners prayer became my band-aid to get things done that I was not able to do.  This means that while I knew of Jesus and that He could perform miracles, I didn’t actually know Jesus.  I wanted the benefits of Jesus but I didn’t want Jesus.  There is a difference.

You know that person that runs to the altar and gets saved, then backslides and then runs to the altar and the gets saved again 3 months later?  Well, they never actually got saved the first time.

You only need to do it once.  If it is real, it will “take” the first time you don’t need to redo it.  I’m not talking about going up for prayer for

other things, I’m talking about raising your hands in church over and over again to be saved.  It only takes one time!  The people who do this, don’t really get it so I am going to take the opportunity to explain it to you from my own personal salvation story since I was once just like this person.

I made a commitment in 2002 to start going to church more because I was in essence a CEO (Christmas and Easter Only) 🙂  I thought to myself I am going to go 4 times this year instead of 2 times.  This was basically the Father drawing me because it was time! He was ready to start using me for the Kingdom.

Even though I grew up in church, went to Catholic school, never missed a Sunday or Wednesday service while growing up, I still didn’t get it.  I think it was Joyce Meyers who said not because you’re standing in a garage means you’re a car.  There are many people who go to church every Sunday who are not actually saved.

So here I was in this Presbyterian church and the pastor preaches this message about predestination.  This means that God knows before hand whether or not you will be saved and not everyone sitting in church would be saved.  I was pissed.  How dare he?  After I made a commitment of going to church more than 2 times per year here he is telling people that not everyone will be saved?  I was mad and decided to write him a nasty letter before leaving the church for good.  He needed to know that this type of preaching will turn people off for good and no one will come to his church.

God will sometimes use offense to bring people to him.  I was attending that church for 4 years as a CEO and here it was I got offended based on 1 sermon, so I sent an email.  This was my first time making contact with anyone at that church.  I usually sit at the back row enter and exit without making eye contact with anyone.  I was not interested in getting to know anyone.  I just wanted to rack up my “church attendance brownie points” as if they counted towards my entrance to heaven.

To my surprise instead of blowing it off, he asked if I wanted to meet in person to discuss the offense.  I was not expecting that response because this is a large church (I think they had over 7,500 members at the time). You see, every soul is important and this pastor understood that principle.  This is the picture of leaving the 99 to get the 1 (Matthew 18:12-13)

I go to meet with him and a female member of the staff and he lets me talk, and talk, and talk and he says nothing.  As I sit there telling him how much of a good person I am and that I am sure God is reasonable and if we are good people we get to go to heaven. At the end of 1 hour, he says one thing, “if you are so sure that you are going to heaven, then why are you so mad?”

I was speechless.  Because I wasn’t sure if what I was doing was enough.  Can you relate?

So, now I am asking you the question, “Are you sure you are going to heaven?”

He told me about a group that they had on a Wednesday night for people who are seeking the truth and suggested that I come to a few sessions and I would get all my questions answered.

Well, this group is basically a room full of evangelists and Christian apologists.  Bottom line is, you are not leaving the room unsaved.  I’ve never seen this many people come to Christ in any church that I have attended – past or present.  And, they don’t do altar calls.  It’s one on one evangelism and discipleship.  Then they teach you how to lead people to Christ.  Once you get it, you only need to do it one time.

Now, I am not the personality type that you can pressure into believing things.  I need to see the facts. I am a skeptic.  I am not a cynic.  There is a difference.  My pastor always said “don’t check your brain at the door, you need to go home, read and study what I’m telling you so that you can know it for yourself”.  I like that.  Because we can make mistakes too, even give you the wrong scripture reference sometimes.  So it is good to open the bible and read it for yourself.

They were studying the book of Ephesians in this Wednesday night group and at the end of the night while I enjoyed the bible study, I was not about to say a sinners prayer because they wanted me to.  I decided to take the study home and read it through myself.

As I sat up in my bed all by myself reading the Ephesians chapter 1, it all came together for me.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, 10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him. 11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, 12 that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.

13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

Do you see the Trinity?  The Father chose and predestined, the Son redeemed through His blood and then the Holy Spirit sealed.

Until this night, I never heard about the Holy Spirit sealing people in my entire life.  I always just thought the Holy Spirit was just some part of a Catholic Prayer “In the name of the Father, Son & the Holy Spirit”  I didn’t know that He was a part of our salvation and if He did not seal us, then we are not guaranteed an inheritance in heaven.

So, you trust….you heard the gospel…you believed the gospel…and then you are supposed to be SEALED. Back in biblical times the king wore a signet ring which bears his insignia.  He uses the ring to create a seal the seals official documents from the king.  It is an irrevocable document.

(Esther 8:8) “You yourselves write a decree concerning the Jews, as you please, in the king’s name, and seal it with the king’s signet ring; for whatever is written in the king’s name and sealed with the king’s signet ring no one can revoke.”

This seal does not get broken until it reaches its intended destination.  Selah.  PRAISE GOD!!!!!

I read Ephesians 1: 13 & 14 about 20 times that night and over and over again I just kept repeating … nobody told me about the seal… how come I didn’t know about the seal? Nobody told me about the Holy Spirit….That’s what’s missing…I don’t have the seal.  No seal. No security.  No surety.  No guarantee for heaven.

I understood the Father.  I understood what the Son did.  But I had no clue the role of the Holy Spirit in salvation. Totally clueless.

If you really want to know what people think, ask random people – saved and unsaved – who the Holy Spirit is and see what they say.

Much like the Armor of God, the seal is very much visible in the realm of the spirit.  The angels and demons are fully aware of who belongs to God and who does not.  You have a seal and they can see it.

Much like when the Lord told the Israelites to wipe the blood over the doorpost so when the angel of death flew over they would be protected because they were marked by the blood (there is so much power in the blood). Likewise, your seal tells who you belong to. To this days Jews put a Mezuzah at their doorway.

The King of kings has His insignia on you in the spirit!

Let’s talk about the redemption in verse 14.  Do you know how you clip coupons and then bring them in to “redeem” them for a discount on products?  The coupon is worthless unless it is redeemed.  You don’t get anything unless you redeem it.

Sooooo, the Holy Spirit is our seal who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

Christ purchased your salvation with His blood we get redeemed when we go back to Him in heaven.  The seal stays in tact until it gets redeemed in heaven.

That is the best news ever!

There is no real salvation apart from the Seal.  Read Romans 8.

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

You must have the Holy Spirit to be truly saved.  Upon realizing this, I also knew this was not something that I could give to myself.  I also cannot make God give me His spirit.  Only He can do this. Therefore, I had only one solution…  Humble myself, ask, offer Him my heart and ask Him to fill me with His Spirit and Seal me.  The most important point here is that I am not being coerced into doing anything I made a decision from a place of understanding.  Most of what you hear in churches or on TV sounds like this..

“if you would like to receive Jesus as your Savior repeat after me. Dear Jesus, I am a sinner, forgive me of my sins, cleanse me and help me to live a better life, amen”

Or something to that effect. It is very anemic and doesn’t explain anything. It doesn’t mention the Father and it doesn’t mention the Holy Spirit. Therefore, people don’t know.

So I prayed and went to bed (I have a prayer for you at the end if you need to pray it).

The next morning I woke up and my entire world changed.  I knew the minute my feet hit the ground that I was different.  I looked at myself in the mirror and I looked the same but I felt different.  When I walked outside I felt like a newborn seeing the world for the first time.  I was aware of all the leaves on the trees, every insect crawling on the ground.  It was like I had an increased ability to hear things.  I could hear the birds.  My hearing was amplified, there’s no other way for me to describe it.  I had instantaneous answers to things that I had questions about for years.  I just knew things.

Not everyone has these experiences when they become born again, these were just mine.

I had this insatiable appetite for the Bible.  I read it every night.  I read one book every week.  I wanted to do nothing else except read the bible and talk to God.

I guess you could say that I got born again in the Secret Place.  There was no one there.  There was no sinners prayer.  No one laid hands on me.  I just had an honest heart to heart with God all by myself.

Then I went through a process where it felt like I lived the sinners prayer.  I spent one whole week crying over my sin.  It was as if this was the first time I actually understood what sin was.  Then I spent the next week being completely overjoyed realizing that I finally got it! Then the next week I became acutely aware that I was having these supernatural experiences which became the sign to me that I was not the same.

So the Sunday following my conversion, when I walked into the doors of the church a few of the leaders were standing around and they looked at me and started smiling.  When they said “It happened didn’t it?”  I said “Yes, but how do you know that?”  They said I was glowing like a light bulb.

I also experienced the same thing over and over again watching others come to Christ, I could see it on them.  They didn’t need to say it I could see it. They were radiant. (Ephesians 5:27, Psalm 34:5)

Later on in this series, I will go more into my supernatural experiences and working with the Holy Spirit.

Now I want to answer some questions, again this is based on my own testimony and experience.

Can you lose your salvation?

Yes and No.  I know that there are many scriptures that you can find that will say that you can lose your salvation.  I’ve read them all.  I’ve heard the conversation on both sides.  Here’s what I believe.  If someone is not sealed, of course they are going to lose their salvation….they were never saved.  They can sit in church, follow a bunch of religious rules, go to seminary, start a church and still walk away from Christ if they never received the Holy Spirit.  To people this will look like they lost their salvation.  I would propose to you these people were never saved.

Jesus says no one can snatch you out of His hands (John 10:28) and He will never lose any that the Father gives Him (John 6:39).

Once you are sealed with the Holy Spirit, it stays until the day of redemption.  Will you sin? Yes, you still have the mind, body and soul that needs to be regenerated but I will say that there is no way you can just live in habitual sin and be comfortable with that.  You can’t.

What breaks the heart of the Father will break your heart.  What grieves the Spirit of God will grieve your spirit.  And the thought of disappointing Him and experiencing the quenching of the Spirit will bring you to repentance.  If you have the Spirit of God living within you, you will repent.

Will you struggle with some things? Yes.  You may need deliverance from strongholds but you will not stop until you are free.  Once you experience the love of the Father and you recognize the Holy Spirit in your life you will do everything to keep that.

(Psalm 51:11) “Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.”  This is what king David said.  And we know he was not perfect but he recognized that if the Spirit of God was not leading and guiding him, he would be done for!

Then there is this scripture…
Galatians 5:19-2119 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.”
Don’t miss the “and the like” at the end of the list.  This can mean so many things.  So,  If I repented for my sins and I’ve faithfully walked with Him for years and on the way to work this morning I had an envious thought, or just got off the phone with my teenager  and flew into a “fit of rage”, then I get hit by a bus and die, does that mean I’m going to hell?
This would be a fear-based religion where I had to keep the letter of the law 100% 24/7 or I could go to hell.  That sounds like bondage to me. We have to bring our flesh under subjection to our spirit in order to live a victorious Christian life but when we fall short there is forgiveness and grace.
At the end of the day I have to look at the character of God.

Romans 8
15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,
Romans 8 goes into the sin problem and how we wrestle with it.  This doesn’t mean we have a license to sin because God is gracious and forgives us. Again, if you have the Spirit of God you will morn over that sin and you won’t want to do it.  I believe you would end up apologizing to your teenager for your fit of rage and repenting before the Lord about it.  If you are habitually sinning then I would question whether or not you have the Holy Spirit.
1 John 3:4-10  (NIV)

“4 Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.

Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. 10 This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister.”

This is how I see it.  It is a balance.

Can a Christian be demon possessed?

Yes and No.  When you get saved the part of you that is saved is your spirit.  The Holy Spirit comes to indwell you.  You are then sealed.  I do not see the Ruach Hakodesh sharing space with a demon.  This is not possible.  If you are saved and sealed you can’t have a demon possessing you.  However, again if you never received the Holy Spirit, then yes you can be possessed.  Also, please keep in mind that you have other parts – there is your mind, body and soul.  So, your spirit can be saved and you have the Holy Spirit but you have a demon in your body that is a spirit of infirmity so now you are sick.  You have different parts, don’t forget that.  You can have a demon in another part of you not your spirit.

Also, Christians can be demonized.  Not possessed but demonized.  That means a demon can tell them what to do and they follow through with it not knowing that the thought was not their own thought.  Or they believed God was speaking with them when in fact it was a demon.  So the demon is not actually inside them it is outside of them and controlling their behavior.

This is what happened with Peter who went from being told he had deep revelation from the Spirit by Jesus to being rebuked moments later by Jesus.

Matthew 16:17-18, 21-23

17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

21 From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.

22 Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to you!”

23 Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”

Was Peter possessed? No. He was being influenced externally by the devil. He was demonized.

Do you need to speak in tongues as a sign you have the Holy Spirit?

Yes and No.  Speaking in tongues is one of the manifested gifts of the Holy Spirit.  However, it is not the only manifestation of the Spirit.

1 Corinthians 12

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.

Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

Verse 11 says He gives the gifts to each as He determines.  If He determines He wants to give you tongues when you receive Him then you will have it.  He may also determine to give you the gifts of healing or the gift of prophecy.  Tongues is just one of nine.  You can manifest any one of the nine which would be a sign that you have the Holy Spirit.

The churches that teach that you must speak in tongues as a sign of your salvation generally use this scripture..

Mark 16

15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

So they speak in tongues as a sign but to those who believe this is the only sign based on this verse I would have to ask, have you drank the poison yet?  Picked up any snakes lately?  To which most would say no.  Those other gifts would be considered miracles.  There are those who speak in tongues and they’ve never cast out a demon.  So these are all different manifestation.  Do not despair if you have one gift and not the other.

I would be concerned if you have the Holy Spirit with no manifestation of any of these gifts.  In the subsequent posts, I am going to talk about each of these manifestations.

We already wrote on the gift of speaking in different tongues and you can read that here.

Don’t you automatically receive the Holy Spirit when you receive Jesus?

Yes and No.  Some people do.  Yes they say one prayer and they get everything.  Others, like myself, didn’t until I prayed to receive the Holy Spirit so I The Holy Spirit - Third Person of the Trinityam speaking from personal experience and my own testimony. I thought I was fine until I realized I was not.

Here’s a scripture that will clearly show you this does happens to some of us.

Acts 6:2-7

So the Twelve called a meeting of all the believers. They said, “We apostles should spend our time teaching the word of God, not running a food program. And so, brothers, select seven men who are well respected and are full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will give them this responsibility. Then we apostles can spend our time in prayer and teaching the word.”

Everyone liked this idea, and they chose the following: Stephen (a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit), Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas of Antioch (an earlier convert to the Jewish faith). These seven were presented to the apostles, who prayed for them as they laid their hands on them.

So God’s message continued to spread. The number of believers greatly increased in Jerusalem, and many of the Jewish priests were converted, too.

So we see that Philip had hands laid on him and he went off to Samaria to preach the gospel.

Acts 8:5-8

Philip, for example, went to the city of Samaria and told the people there about the Messiah.  Crowds listened intently to Philip because they were eager to hear his message and see the miraculous signs he did.  Many evil spirits were cast out, screaming as they left their victims. And many who had been paralyzed or lame were healed.  So there was great joy in that city.

But now the people believed Philip’s message of Good News concerning the Kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ. As a result, many men and women were baptized.  Then Simon himself believed and was baptized. He began following Philip wherever he went, and he was amazed by the signs and great miracles Philip performed.

So we see that Philip was filled with the Holy Spirit because he had the manifestations of the Spirit in the gifts of miracles and gifts of healing as well as casting out demons. He preached the gospel, people believed and got baptized.  In most churches this is what happened, you believe, you got baptized, that’s it!  Well, read on.  Here’s what happens next…

Acts 8:14-17

When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that the people of Samaria had accepted God’s message, they sent Peter and John there.  As soon as they arrived, they prayed for these new believers to receive the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them, for they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then Peter and John laid their hands upon these believers, and they received the Holy Spirit.

So there you have it.  Some people can pray the sinners prayer and not really get saved because the Holy Spirit never came upon them and sealed them.  Why?  I don’t know.  I am only speaking from personal experience and now this scripture that shows it may not necessarily be an automatic thing.

Some of you reading this already know you have the Holy Spirit because you have the manifestation of the Spirit.  Others, you are just not sure.  Maybe you have no manifestations according to the bible.  If that is you, then this is something you want to take to the Lord in prayer.  Have your heart to heart with God and know where you stand. Some of you read your bibles and you still don’t get it or you have no desire to pray.  These are signs that you may not have the Holy Spirit.  Especially if you have none of the manifestation gifts.

So here’s the explanation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ along with the prayer

Here is the Bad News…

When God created the first humans Adam and Eve they were made perfect and had communion with God. They had the ability to speak with God face to face.  God gave man one command to follow: And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” Genesis 2:16-17

We know that Adam and Eve did not physically die because they were sent out of the garden of Eden.  So what was God referring to? Spiritual death.

We got disconnected in the spirit.

Here is the Good News…

God came in the form of a man which was born of the virgin Mary and conceived by His Holy Spirit making him 100% human and 100% deity.  His name is Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ lived a perfect, sinless life so that He could die on the cross for our sins.  He paid the price for us.  He became our substitute.  God took all of your sins from your past, present and future and punished Jesus for them in your place. A sin is anything that falls short of God’s perfect standard whether in your thoughts or your deeds.

This is the greatest love story every told. Jesus did for you what you couldn’t do for yourself so that you could be spiritually connect to God.  When Jesus died He rose again on the 3rd day by the power of the Holy Spirit.  This is a sign that He paid for all of your sins.  If He did not pay for your sins in full he would not be resurrected.  He is now seated at the right hand of God the Father.

Why did He have to come as a man?  Romans 5:17-19 For if, by the trespass of the one man (Adam), death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ. Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.”

For those who believe and receive what has already been done for us by Jesus Christ, God sends His Holy Spirit to live on the inside of us to regenerate and renew us.  The Holy Spirit is the third person of the trinity (Triune God).  With the Holy Spirit we are now in perfect communion God and we are now spiritually alive. Born again with a new spirit.

With the Holy Spirit we are now spiritually connected.

If you would like to receive Jesus Christ all you need to do is pray this simple prayer.

“Lord Jesus, I want to become a follower of Yours. I come to You acknowledging that I am a sinner. I know that I cannot make myself acceptable to God through my own efforts. I believe You went to the cross to be judged in my place. I trust You to save me from the judgment I deserve. I trust You to give me a new life. I believe that you are the only one who can give me eternal life and true communion with God. Give me the free gift of Your Holy Spirit.  Fill me with your Spirit so that I may live a life that honors you. Seal me until the day of redemption. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for your love. Give me the grace and wisdom I need to learn Your ways so that I might follow You as my Lord. Amen.”

I pray that this blessed you.  Perhaps helped to explain a few things.  I’m looking forward to sharing more with you about the Holy Spirit now that we have covered the foundational teaching.

  1. Can I also pray for my mother to receive the Holy Spirit like the apostles did Acts 8:14-17? bcos she has been saying the repenting prayer I don’t know how many times, 50 times maybe and there is no change in her.

    1. Hi Thembela, just ask her to pray to receive the Holy Spirit. Let her pray and ask the Lord. What kind of changes were you looking for? For some people there is nothing that happens. We are not of the belief in this ministry that you must speak in tongues if you receive the Holy Spirit. Some people do and some people don’t. Hope this helps. Blessings

  2. Thank you for the great teaching.
Kindly asking if seeing visions while praying and having lots of dreams is a manifestation of the Holy Spirit?

    1. Very good question Nnennaisika! The answer is yes. I never got water baptized until almost 2 year after I was saved and filled with the Holy Spirit. Also, remember Jesus said to the thief on the cross that he would be with Him paradise that day. He didn’t need to get off the cross and get baptized. Baptism is a declaration of your faith. It doesn’t save you and it can’t give you the Holy Ghost either, as you can see from the last scripture given in the post.

  3. Praise the Lord.I want to thank God for these ministry,a few weeks ago l ask for prayers toward an operation l was about to do.To God be the glory,it was a success and am recovering very fast.It can only be God.To everybody that God use for my testimonies, may they also enjoy His hands in all area of there life.God bless you all.
