This is a quick prophetic word, well compared to the others that are written on this site, it is quick! It is an urgent word which I think has to do with the fact that we turned a corner at Rosh Hashanah. We’ve entered another “phase” of what God is doing in us individually and as a church.
Understand that the enemy CANNOT stop God’s plan for your life. He has no power over your destiny and because we are on the homestretch now, he has to try and get us in other ways. How?
Forfeiture.
This is when you give up what is rightfully yours. Yes, and it happens at specific times.
- When you are tired and feel like you can’t go anymore so he offers you an out.
- When you are sick
- When you are hungry
- Basically you are not performing at 100% of your emotional and mental capacity. You are not thinking straight,
It is at this point he strikes. He offers you something, way, way, way less than what you were going to get and the worse part is because you are not thinking clearly in that moment, you agree to it!
The worse part is, once you forfeit you can’t get it back! And you truly believe in that moment that you made the right decision, but you didn’t!! You will even justify that you did the right thing. Except that after you forfeit and you get some good sleep, you eat so you are no longer hungry and you are at 100% mental and emotional capacity that is when you realize the mistake you made. But, you can’t go back now.
So now that we are on the homestretch this is the plot he’s coming with.
God says WAIT!!! WAIT!! Before you make any rash decisions. It’s going to feel like the right thing to do because you are not thinking about the future, you are only thinking about today. WAIT! Do not forfeit your future for some temporary relief.
Genesis 25:29-34
One day when Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau arrived home from the wilderness exhausted and hungry. Esau said to Jacob, “I’m starved! Give me some of that red stew!” (This is how Esau got his other name, Edom, which means “red.”)
“All right,” Jacob replied, “but trade me your rights as the firstborn son.”
“Look, I’m dying of starvation!” said Esau. “What good is my birthright to me now?”
But Jacob said, “First you must swear that your birthright is mine.” So Esau swore an oath, thereby selling all his rights as the firstborn to his brother, Jacob.
Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and lentil stew. Esau ate the meal, then got up and left. He showed contempt for his rights as the firstborn.
Esau gave up his entire future for a bowl of stew and never got it back. Why? He was hungry and exhausted. But his sin was the very last sentence He showed contempt for his rights as a firstborn.
Do not show contempt for your inheritance as a child of God
Here is the word forfeit used in the bible so that you an see this is a transaction but the transaction is a bad deal. Makes no sense!
Matthew 16:26 ASV
“For what shall a man be profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and forfeit his life? or what shall a man give in exchange for his life?”
Forfeit is from the root Greek word Zemia. Strong’s 2209
Original Word: ζημία, ας, ἡ
Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine
Transliteration: zémia
Phonetic Spelling: (dzay-mee’-ah)
Definition: damage
Usage: damage, loss, detriment.
2209 zēmía – damage (detriment); a mercantile term for “loss“; a “bad deal” (unsuccessful business transaction) which results in a fine (penalty, forfeiture).
Bottom line, it’s a bad deal.
Remember in the moment the deal is going to look good to you but don’t make this mistake. Stop. Wait.

Hello, my name is Gloria. I got this message on Monday, same day I went to conclude a new job salary. At the initial interview, I was told they will pay me between 70-75 thousand naira this was before the covid19 pandemic, now that schools have resumed, they called me to come to the school, on getting there, the consultant said because of the pandemic, they will not be able to pay up to that amount anymore that since my last salary was 65k, they can make it 67k for me. I insisted on 70k, but I was not happy with it but just wanted to manage it cos as it is, I am the bread winner of my family, and I had already left my former job for this one. Last night the person that connected me to the job called me to inform me that the owner of the school said is 60k they can pay me and she is pressurising me to accept it as against my will. When I got your email when I got back home, my spirit told me that this message is for me, I clearly do not want to take the job cos it’s quite demanding counseling and teaching at the same time for a lesser pay. On Tuesday, I met an old classmate who asked me to try and start up something of my own, when I told him about my challenges, he asked me to do a visibility study of any business of my choice, that he will support me. Now, I see God at work here cos for the first time in my life(I’ve been through alot), someone is accepting to support me. But now, I am confused cos the pressure to accept that job which I don’t want is becoming much. Please I need more explanation on this message of Forfeiture,prayers and guidance on what really to do at this point in my life. Thanks

Gloria, the message is very clear. There is no more explanation needed. What you need to do is pray and ask the Lord if this message is actually for you or not. Then you need to ask Him what you are to do about this job situation. I can’t tell you what to do you need to pray and ask God for yourself. We’ll pray for you that you get clarity from Him.

Wow. I have two decisions that I made or one I made and another one I haven’t made yet. I’m currently writing a book, and I want my pastor’s wife to look over it in terms of content so I just sent it over through email but I trust her. Hmmm. And I actually have an interview on Friday for a job, which I thought was a good opportunity so I’m confused and God is not the God of confusion. Can you please pray for me? This is alarming especially after seeing the it may too late by Friday point. Thank you for this word Sister in Christ. God bless you.

Wow, this word is for me. A man that I love has been falsely arrested just when we were making plans of marriage, now he is panicking and even prepared to send His family to mine to ask for my hand in marriage whilst he is in prison. Everything is at a stop for him but the only thing he has a sense of hold on is this marriage. I was undecided about this I guess it was the voice of the Holy Spirit saying wait and I thank God for this prophetic word.

God has just confirmed to me a concerned I had, through this message. The whole last week I was in a tense battle Field between what God put into My heart to do, and distractions,and when I supplicate I get a sense of spiritual blockage trying to put me off course, even at this time from Saturday to today am totally sick (please put me in prayer to accomplish what God has put in my heart for his will) . Just some 5minutes to geting This message , I was offered an olive branch but I declined. Imidiately after that , your message came. you’ve saved me totally at the right time. Honestly couldn’t come at a better time, it’s exactly how I’ve been feeling. Wanting to just stop with the hoping for better as I’m tired, unemployed, single, in debt, single mum, lonely, sad, hurt and just fed up. I try so hard to hear from God about my situation but somehow I just don’t get it for whatever reason. Every door I try to push just won’t open. I don’t have a clue what to do next but lower my expectations.
