Easter Prayer and Easter Bible Verses

During Easter, especially starting with Holy Thursday, there generally is a time of mourning.  We see this quite often with orthodox churches.

We generally celebrate Christmas with great joy and then we mourn at Easter when in actuality it should be the reverse.

Think about it!  At Christmas the baby Jesus was born in a manger and His sole purpose was to suffer, go the cross and die for all mankind who will receive His atonement of sin on the cross.  Therefore, His birth is into pain and suffering.

However, at His death and resurrection we should be joyous!  Why?  Because if He did not die then we would not have eternal life.

This is what the Gospel of Jesus Christ is all about.

Here are some Easter Bible Verses

John 11:25-26 (NIV) ~ “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

Luke 24:5-7 (NIV) “In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’

John 3:16-17 (NIV) ~ “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”

1 Peter 1:3 (NIV) ~ “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,”

Isaiah 26:19b(NIV) ~ “But your dead will live, Lord; their bodies will rise—let those who dwell in the dust wake up and shout for joy—your dew is like the dew of the morning; the earth will give birth to her dead.

Luke 24:34 (NIV) ~ “It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon.”

Matthew 28:6 (NIV) ~ “He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.”

The following Easter Prayer is from the perspective of this joy that Easter Prayer and Easter Bible Verseswe should feel during this season because it is the reason for our salvation.

Easter Prayer (You can pray this over your Easter Dinner as well)

Abba Father, thank you for sending your Son, Jesus, as the sacrificial lamb for our sins. While His life here on earth was a short 33 years and His ministry time was 3 years we are grateful that He came.  We are reminded that we can accomplish so much in such a short time if we dedicate our lives fully to following Your will and walking the path that you have carved out before us.

Thank you that in Jesus dying upon the cross He paid in full for all of my sins – past, present and future.

If Jesus stayed in the grave we would have nothing to celebrate but it is in the resurrection that we triumph.  He was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit.  This same Spirit lives within us that believe and we thank you that we too can do the miraculous through the power of the third person of the Trinity.

Thank you for the resurrection.  Thank you that we serve a risen King.  Jesus is alive!  He is risen.

We are grateful that through His resurrection He has given us new life, health, freedom from emotional, mental and spiritual bondage.

Bless everything that I have, bless my family this Easter, bless our meal, bless our time together and bless this celebration, In Jesus Name, Amen.
