We would like to share with you this hedge of thorns prayer. This is not the same as a hedge of protection prayer. The difference is the hedge of protection keeps what is external from coming in while the hedge of thorns prayer keeps what is in from going out.
You should only pray this prayer for people with whom you have a biblical covenant relationship. So this would be for an unfaithful spouse and you can also use this prayer for a prodigal child, drug addicted child, a child who is keeping company with gang related friends.
This prayer should not be prayed for your boyfriend, or girlfriend or someone whom you have feelings for that is not your spouse. That would be considered witchcraft because you are not in a covenant relationship with that person. You also don’t really know God’s will for that person so try not to let your emotions and feelings get control of you.
Likewise if you feel that someone who is not in a covenant relationship with you may be praying this over you, then you want to cut soul ties with them and pray this off of you.
Let’s look at the scriptures that talk about the Hedge of Thorns. There are actually 2 scriptures in the King James Version- one refers to laziness Proverbs 15:19 (we’ll cover that in a different post) and the other is Hosea 2:6.
We will focus in on Hosea 2:6. The book of Hosea is about the prophet Hosea and his unfaithful spouse. This book,while it can be taken literally, can also be looked at figuratively as the Church of Jesus Christ being unfaithful to God and chasing after things (idolatry) and not God. This is a spiritual unfaithfulness. Therefore if you see your child going after things that are not of God (prodigals, drug and alcohol addicted, bad company) you can use these scriptures to pray for them as well.
Let’s look at the scripture in context…
Hosea 2:5-7 (NKJV) “For their mother has played the harlot; She who conceived them has behaved shamefully. For 
she said, ‘I will go after my lovers, Who give me my bread and my water, My wool and my linen, My oil and my drink.’ “Therefore, behold, I will hedge up your way with thorns, And wall her in, So that she cannot find her paths. She will chase her lovers, But not overtake them; Yes, she will seek them, but not find them. Then she will say, ‘I will go and return to my first husband, For then it was better for me than now.’
That’s pretty clear showing that these hedge of thorns keeps the unfaithful from going out and they return to the one with whom they are in a covenant relationship.
Hedge of Thorns Prayer:
Father God, I present to you this day ___________ and ask that you put the hedge of thorns, according to Hosea 2:6, around them to keep them from falling into sin. Cause them to not find the way of unfaithfulness. Cause these ungodly desires to not be fulfilled. May they return to a covenant relationship first and foremost with you, God, and secondly to the covenant relationship that You have ordained from the foundations of the earth. I pray for grace, patience and peace to guard my heart as I wait on You Lord to bring this prayer to fulfillment. I pray that You would send away all these ungodly desires. May _______ lose the desire to go that way, reveal to her/him that this way is destruction and against your will. Give him/her dreams and visions to see that the end is of no good. I pray that You will season my speech with grace so that I will know what to say and when to say it. I pray that you will cleanse my heart and root out any seed of bitterness. Give me grace to forgive. Put a guard over my mouth and show me how I can accommodate the reconciliation and restoration of this covenant relationship. If I have any responsibility in driving ______ away from you God and from this covenant relationship, please reveal it to me. Forgive me God and prepare me for their return. Guide them and me with your Holy Spirit, in Jesus Name, Amen.

PLEASE pray for my marriage. My spouse was just diagnosed with Bipolar disorder, and Borderline personality disorder. He has made some poor choices within the last year, been unfaithful, had some suicide attempts, and is just far from God in this. He is explaining that he wants to divorce. He needs this hedge of thorn, and I need prayers for a guarded heart. I am hurting and I pray for my husbands treatment (has not started yet) and mind. I pray for myself and our wonderful children to be kept safe and shielded in this process, and that my spouse returns home from his work trip with a mind of faithfulness and integrity to pursue GOD and the correct treatment, instead of this lonely path of self destruction. Hello my name is Joey and my wife’s name is Sara. Before we were married she was unfaithful with multiple men we went our separate ways though I didn’t want to. A few months later she texts me out the blue owning her faults saying she was a horrible person and said it was all her fault and doesn’t expect a reply but she’s being tortured and had to get off her chest. About a month after that she said she needed some space and asked me to leave, I didn’t want to leave because I figured that putting space between us is the worst thing to do because it would giver time to get over me and move on and allow Satan to tempt her to fill that void . Now I’ve been gone for almost a month and she has already been staying at her ex one of the men she cheated on me with and still is. I still pay her car insurance and phone bill and try to help however I can but that’s the only time she speaks to me, her heart has become completely turned cold to me I wasn’t in the word like I used to be and she’s not at all, but this situation has broken my heart to the point where I can’t find words to describe, so that has humbled me to seek the Lord again , I have a spiritual sponsor who holds me accountable to make sure I’m going to church with him and we delve in the word from time to time throughout the week and he is the one who told me about the hedge of thorns prayers and is testimony he has, being that he went through the divorce and for a while they were not on good terms and it’s been a year now and she wants to reconcile and she’s in the word as well, thank God ! I’ve been pleading with my wife to grasp the magnitude of her actions . Regardless of weather she feels married or chooses to not wear her ring does not change the fact that we are married under a covenant with God himself and the bible clearly says that God hates divorce. – Mark 10:9 For what God joined together let no one seperate.

I know that God works on his time and not mine , it’s just that every time I pray , or pray the hedge of thorns prayers for restoration of marriage it seems like as I’m driving I’ll see her car at that guys house where she has stayed the night several times. I’m doing everything I know to do, I’ve been going to church for the last two weeks, been doing counseling for the last 3-4 weeks, trying to keep the sabbath , prayer and fasting and she is just so cold to me and claims that I verbally broke her down reminding her of the past during arguments but never has she realized that it was her initial cheating that caused that pain and at that time I did not know the impact the reminders were having on her because she bit her tongue and not once did she ever take a stand and say we are going to counseling or whatever it takes to salvage our marriage just almost over night was like I need space which was a trick just to get me out the house. I did not have the knowledge or the tools to cope and heal with that pain but now I do and I just plead with her to give me the same as I gave her which is a second chance to show her I let her know all the steps I’m taking to live according to the will of God and be a better son, man, husban, and father, I told her that keeping my vows are a must even though I know she’s not , but there is nothing more important to me than saving my marriage . I know God hears my prayers and he’s working on me because as God is my head , I am my wife’s head, but when I pray it seems to be a temporary bandaid and I’ll be balling crying yet I feel a little lighter but that’s short lived and then I’ll see her at this guy’s house who’s a drug dealer and no good. So it’s like I’m being built up and tore down all day everyday and I’m desperately in need of any advice and most definitely in need of some extra prayer. My wife is my best friend , my everything and soul mate and I don’t know how to go on without her, I miss and love my wife so much, please any help would much be appreciated.
