Mantles and Anointings Part 2-The Joseph Anointing

In this post I will talk about the Joseph anointing.  In Part 1, there is a foundational teaching on mantles and anointings. I would implore you to read the entire life of Joseph (Genesis 37 – 50), and you will be able to pick up all the points that I am making in this post.  At the very end I will show you what the “secret ingredient” was to his overall success. The top portion of this is very practical because this is primarily for people in the marketplace so I am going to speak from that perspective and then talk about the spiritual components later.

I’ve primarily seen this anointing/mantle at work in people in the market place ministry.  And it can be in the 7 mountains of society:

  1. Government
  2. Education
  3. Family
  4. Arts & Entertainment
  5. Business
  6. Media
  7. Religion

I do believe there is a place for it in religion but I think we will primarily see this working in the other 6 more.

First let’s look at Joseph personality and his character:

  1. Likeability.  I don’t think I’ve ever met someone with this anointing that people didn’t like.
  2. Favor. Because they are likeable they have a very uncommon favor about them.  If a job or position required a 4 year degree and 5 years experience to get it, they will start at the ground level and within record time they are running the place without the 4 year degree and the 5 experience.  Generally, no one can explain how they got the position but everyone will agree they deserve it. Why is that?…
  3. They are very good at their job and thrive in their roles bringing much profit to the owner
  4. They are very pleasant
  5. They are very positive and optimistic
  6. Generally have their eye on the prize.  They are very focused because they know what they want. They have vision.
  7. They are very good at administration and organizing things
  8. They are good leaders
  9.  They are generally well groomed individuals.
  10. They are forgiving people and they don’t hold grudges
  11. They are very kind and generous
  12. They have a spirit of excellence

Let’s look at the anointing or the gifts that go with this mantle:

  1. Administration
  2. Wisdom
  3. Prophecy (you can’t have vision unless you have some idea of where you’re going)
  4. Leadership

Enemies of the mantle:

  1. Jealousy, ultimately the spirit of murder
  2. Unforgiveness
  3. A Lying spirit/False Accusations
  4. Word Curses
  5. Pride
  6. Sprendrift/wasteful spirit
  7. Selfishness

One of the first thing I noticed about Joseph is that he never told his brothers the interpretation of the dream.  He just told them the dream and they interpreted it.  So, he wasn’t really bragging.  Also, these were his half brothers.  Benjamin, who was his full brother was not a part of the plot to kill him.  If we look at this spiritually, this would be other people in the family of God who are not fully with you.  This is why it is important to know who is for you and who is against you before you share anything with them.

The first mantle was given by his father Genesis 37:3, the Hebrew word is kesones passim  it is translated striped, colorful, ornate robe that goes all the way down to the floor and the wrist.  Some say the robe even covered his palm.  Because it was so long it is said that Joseph never worked because this is not the type of robe you wear when you work.

He was the favorite (favor) of his father and as a result his brothers were jealous and envious of him.  They spoke word curses over him (Gen 37:4)

The name Joseph means “to increase and addition” so he was destined to be greater than…

It is important to know that with all the jealousy and envy that Joseph faced it didn’t stop his destiny but instead propelled him towards it.  The plan for death landed him in the house of Potiphar who was the captains of Pharoah’s army.  Therefore, he was closer to his destiny.

Genesis 39:2-6

The Lord was with Joseph, so he succeeded in everything he did as he served in the home of his Egyptian master. Potiphar noticed this and realized that the Lord was with Joseph, giving him success in everything he did. This pleased Potiphar, so he soon made Joseph his personal attendant. He put him in charge of his entire household and everything he owned. From the day Joseph was put in charge of his master’s household and property, the Lord began to bless Potiphar’s household for Joseph’s sake. All his household affairs ran smoothly, and his crops and livestock flourished. So Potiphar gave Joseph complete administrative responsibility over everything he owned. With Joseph there, he didn’t worry about a thing—except what kind of food to eat!

Joseph was able to succeed because he was good at what he does and carried a spirit of excellence.  Those with the Joseph anointing/mantle are generally very good at their jobs.  They are sought after by others because they are known for the quality of their work.  They go the extra mile to ensure that what they are producing is excellent.  They are usually very critical of themselves because they will look back at what they did before and always think it wasn’t good enough and they could’ve done better.  The truth of the matter is their 20% effort is better than 80% of the people around them; therefore, whatever they do outshines everyone else.

Joseph was a very handsome and well-built young man (Genesis 39:6b)

Those with the Joseph anointing are generally well groomed individuals.  They present themselves very well.  This is another reason they stand out.  When everyone else is looking disheveled because they think no one can see them because they work in a back office, the Josephs are going to be better dressed than everyone else.  Why is that?  Because they understand that where they are now is not where they will end up.  They are dressing up.  Meaning, the next level up.

If you look at the First ladies of the US, they all looked like the First lady before they became the First lady.  The Joseph never waits for the position to look the part.  They look the part and it acts as a prophecy into the position.  They dress how they see themselves, they are “it” before they become it.

Again, Joseph gets falsely accused by Potiphar’s wife for attempted rape so he was thrown in prison.  Now, it says that he left his coat as he fled.  I believe this is a picture of his 2nd mantle which was a promotion from the first mantle which his brother’s took.

Please understand that even though the first 2 mantles were taken or apparently stolen from him, this never changed anything in the realm of the spirit.

As with the case of his brothers, this just propelled him further into his destiny.  Even though he is behind bars, this was just another stepping stone to his final destination.  The enemy can accuse, be jealous, speak word curses, appear to steal from you in the natural but he cannot actually take your gifts and anointing or your mantle.

Genesis 39:21-23

21 But the Lord was with Joseph in the prison and showed him his faithful love. And the Lord made Joseph a favorite with the prison warden. 22 Before long, the warden put Joseph in charge of all the other prisoners and over everything that happened in the prison. 23 The warden had no more worries, because Joseph took care of everything. The Lord was with him and caused everything he did to succeed.

So here you have it, the physical manifestation of the anointing and mantle on his life, which is proof that while they may have stolen the physical mantle, spiritually nothing changed!

Here’s the part where we usually get tripped up, Joseph got sold when he was 17 , he spent 11 years in Potiphar’s house as a servant and then 2+ years in prison.  So there is a time of process that we all have to go through from the moment God starts moving us into our role and purpose.  It takes time.

Again, Joseph was put in charge of the Pharoah’s cup bearer and baker when they were thrown in jail.  God always positions us exactly where he wants us to be, even when it appears that things are not going as planned.

Proverbs 18:16 says that our gifts will open doors for us.  So here are these 2 men and they have dreams which they need interpreted.  It is interesting that Joseph never went around advertising that he can interpret dream.  He only said it because they needed it

Do not miss point.

We do not need to advertise ourselves in the marketplace.  God brings about opportunities where we can minister to people and use our gifts.  Actually, in the Unites States in most work places you can’t talk about your faith.  So, what do you do?  It is a simple prayer

“Lord, please open doors of opportunities for me to share with others about You. Then give me a tongue of wisdom to speak when the opportunity arises. Guide me by your Holy Spirit every day while I am here to shine your light and be a living epistle for people to see, in Jesus name, Amen”

That’s it.

Saying hallelujah or Glory to God or Praise Jesus every other sentence when people are trying to have a conversation with you in the workplace, is not the approach you should take.  Your actions and the fruit is what says you are saved.  Not your words.  Unless you are speaking wisdom and knowledge.

People aren’t going to promote you because you said “Praise Jesus” 10 times per day.  No, they promote you because you are good at your job.  When the opportunity arises you get to tell them why you are good at your job.

Moving on from this, remember it is the quality of your work and your character that gives you the promotion.  With the promotion, you have a platform to share when God opens the door.

Esther didn’t open her mouth until the moment was right.  Discern your timing.

While Joseph was in prison he asked the cup bearer and the baker to mention him to the Pharaoh so that he was would be released because he was innocent.  Well, they forgot about him.

Again, God had not forgotten about him and made a way so that he could be standing in front of the Pharaoh 2 years later to interpret a dream that no one else could. Why did God leave him there for 2 years?  I don’t know for sure but sometimes we need time to empty ourselves.  Humility arises when we have no other options and we can’t think our way out of a situation.  We become so completely surrendered because the only one that can get us out of it is God.  He asked them to mention his name to the Pharaoh, maybe that was him doing it to help himself and not God.  Who knows?

In Genesis 41, we see the dream of the Pharaoh and we see that Joseph interprets the dream.

Reading the bible is like peeling the layers of an onion in that when you read it the first time you get the full meaning.  If you go back and reread the same thing a few months later you may see something you didn’t see before.  And then there is a 3rd and 4th layer when so much more gets revealed that you didn’t see the first 2 times you read it.

On the first layer what we are looking at is Joseph using a gift of dream interpretation and a gift of wisdom (wisdom is the application of the knowledge).  That’s all we really see.  But, there was more going on here…

The Secret Ingredient

There is a reason Joseph actually went from the prison to the palace within the hour.  I didn’t even see this until the Lord showed it to me.

I had a vision as I was driving in my car and praying about this teaching.  In the vision I see a prism.  Then I see a light come out of heaven and go through one side of the prism.  When it exited the other side I see the 7 colors of the rainbow.  The rainbow goes upwards and then it starts whirling together and it turns into a coat.

Because I was driving I couldn’t write anything down so I started to pray into this.  The rainbow colored coat is Joseph’s mantle.  It had the colors of the rainbow.  That is why it was multicolored.  Because it was a vision in a flash I was trying to recall the colors (sorry, no I couldn’t immediately recall the colors of the rainbow) So then I started praying into these colors to get the meaning of each of them. I see yellow as honor and financial success, orange as fruitfulness and multiplication, red as the blood of Jesus, pink as love, blue as the revelation of God, green as growth and newness, then I couldn’t remember what the 7th color was.  So I said to the Lord it was dark is it black?.  And, He says “No, there is no darkness in this”

I need you to remember this…

There is no darkness in this

The 7th color was purple which is royalty, the kingly color.

Light enters the prism, this is white (purity & holiness).  You can never get darkness when you start with The Light.  The Light dispels the darkness. (John 1:1-5) What the Light does is that it produces colors that shines out and manifests itself in different ways depending on the situation.  All the colors are a manifestation of the Light.

We are the prism, when the Light (Jesus) shines in us we manifest Him on the earth.  When you operate and live out of the pure light, there can be no darkness.

The rainbow is also a sign of the covenant, the promises of God and that will surely come to pass.

All of those colors were in Joseph’s mantle. There was no darkness there.

*Side note, if you Google the colors of the rainbow you may end up with different colors.  Most don’t say pink they use indigo.  But God did not correct me when I said pink.  The only one He corrected was the black. The other thing that I discovered is that the gay community uses the rainbow as their symbol but their flag only has 6 colors and not 7.  The pink, which is love is missing. They need love. They need YOU to love them (now that will preach! And, prophesy).

As I continued to pray what the Lord revealed to me is that the 7 colors represent the 7 Spirits of God.

Isaiah 11: 2 …

  1. And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—
  2. the Spirit of wisdom and
  3. understanding,
  4. the Spirit of counsel and
  5. might,
  6. the Spirit of knowledge and
  7. the fear of the Lord.

So, then Joseph’s original mantle had one important component that had not yet reached it’s fullness.  So God had to put him through all of this to get him to the place where he would manifest the Secret ingredient in order to be able to walk in the fullness of the mantle..

The Seven Spirits of God

When I got home I said to the Lord, if this revelation is true then you need to show me in the story of Joseph the 7 Spirits in operation.

Now, go back and reread without looking at the first layer where you only see dream interpretation and the gift of wisdom, look for the 7 Spirits of God…

This is Joseph after he comes out of prison and he’s standing before the Pharaoh for the first time

Genesis 41:15-39

15 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I had a dream last night, and no one here can tell me what it means. But I have heard that when you hear about a dream you can interpret it.”

16 “It is beyond my power to do this,” Joseph replied. “But God can tell you what it means and set you at ease.” (the Spirit of the fear of the Lord, he’s not taking credit)

17 So Pharaoh told Joseph his dream. “In my dream,” he said, “I was standing on the bank of the Nile River, 18 and I saw seven fat, healthy cows come up out of the river and begin grazing in the marsh grass. 19 But then I saw seven sick-looking cows, scrawny and thin, come up after them. I’ve never seen such sorry-looking animals in all the land of Egypt. 20 These thin, scrawny cows ate the seven fat cows. 21 But afterward you wouldn’t have known it, for they were still as thin and scrawny as before! Then I woke up.

22 “In my dream I also saw seven heads of grain, full and beautiful, growing on a single stalk. 23 Then seven more heads of grain appeared, but these were blighted, shriveled, and withered by the east wind. 24 And the shriveled heads swallowed the seven healthy heads. I told these dreams to the magicians, but no one could tell me what they mean.”

25 Joseph responded, “Both of Pharaoh’s dreams mean the same thing (The Spirit of Knowledge). God is telling Pharaoh in advance what he is about to do. 26 The seven healthy cows and the seven healthy heads of grain both represent seven years of prosperity. 27 The seven thin, scrawny cows that came up later and the seven thin heads of grain, withered by the east wind, represent seven years of famine (The Spirit of Counsel).

28 “This will happen just as I have described it, for God has revealed to Pharaoh in advance what he is about to do. 29 The next seven years will be a period of great prosperity throughout the land of Egypt. 30 But afterward there will be seven years of famine so great that all the prosperity will be forgotten in Egypt. Famine will destroy the land. 31 This famine will be so severe that even the memory of the good years will be erased. 32 As for having two similar dreams, it means that these events have been decreed by God, and he will soon make them happen (The Spirit of Understanding).

33 “Therefore, Pharaoh should find an intelligent and wise man and put him in charge of the entire land of Egypt. 34 Then Pharaoh should appoint supervisors over the land and let them collect one-fifth of all the crops during the seven good years. 35 Have them gather all the food produced in the good years that are just ahead and bring it to Pharaoh’s storehouses. Store it away, and guard it so there will be food in the cities. 36 That way there will be enough to eat when the seven years of famine come to the land of Egypt. Otherwise this famine will destroy the land.” (The Spirit of Wisdom)

37 Joseph’s suggestions were well received by Pharaoh and his officials. 38 So Pharaoh asked his officials, “Can we find anyone else like this man so obviously filled with the spirit of God?” (The Spirit of the Lord)39 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has revealed the meaning of the dreams to you, clearly no one else is as intelligent or wise as you are.

Whew!  Praise God!!  But wait, I said to the Lord where is The Spirit of Might?  When I think Might I think about David and Goliath or Samson so I didn’t see Might in this.  The Hebrew word for Might is Geburah and it means courage , mighty , mighty acts , mighty deeds , mighty ones , mighty strength , power , strength, strong , triumph.

For this, you have to put yourself into the story.  Here come Joseph out of prison standing in front of the Pharaoh.  Imagine that you are sitting there watching this conversation.  Joseph right out the gate starts exhibiting the Seven Spirits of God.  This was not a long conversation.  The Spirit of Might was in his delivery.  It was all over his presentation.  He was courageous and delivered the message with POWER.  This is what the Apostles did when the Holy Spirit came upon them.  They delivered their message with strength and power after the mighty rushing wind came upon them (Holy Spirit).

So, Joseph had to go through the fire and be purified until God could manifest Himself through him in His FULLNESS.  A complete manifestation of the Spirit of God.  Can you imagine what it must have been like for the Pharaoh to hear him?  He didn’t have a choice but to give him the job!!

Have you thought about how ridiculous it sounds that the enemy (Pharaoh), takes the slave out of prison and puts him in charge of his kingdom??  That is crazy. This is more than just favor.  It was more than the gift of wisdom. It was more than the gift of interpreting dreams. It was the 7 Spirits of God.

Once Joseph was dead to himself, and he completed his process the Lord handed him the final touch which is the fullness, the 7 Spirits of God.  Notice, he never told the Pharaoh that he was innocent.  He didn’t even ask for the job.  Do you realize that?  Joseph never asked for the job.  He was dead to himself.  He never told the Pharaoh that he was falsely accused like he did when he was in prison.  Which means, that is exactly why God left him there for an additional 2 years.  He wasn’t dead yet.  He needed to stop defending himself and allow the Lord to do it.  That means, the Pharaoh released the guilty man.

If you feel that you may have this anointing on your life your highest priority should be to go through the process and the purification of the Lord so that you can walk in this mantle.

This mantle is not self serving.  It is not a mantle about money and getting rich.  The wealth that Joseph accumulated was for the king.  Your wealth will be for THE King.  It is a mantle for a season that the world and the church must go through.  Joseph was given a new name by the Pharoah and it was Zaphenath-paneah.  It means “the one who provides sustenance of the land” or “the one who furnishes nourishment for life”

He was raised up for a season when there was a famine and he was the supplier, the one with the resources to sustain the people.

When you have this mantle your job will be to sustain the people across the 7 mountains, whichever area you are called to.  God is going to raise up the Josephs across the 7 mountains of society.

All the people who did you wrong will need to come back to you.  They will be afraid to do it because they are well aware of what they did but that doesn’t matter because your response will let them know that there is a reason you were given that position.

Most people expect you will do to them what they did to you, but you won’t!  There will not be a hint of retribution or revenge on you.

Remember, there is no darkness in this.

You can’t have someone lay hands on you to get the 7 Spirits of God.  You can’t buy it.  This is something that comes directly from the Lord to you when you have completed your process.  You have to die to yourself.  He has to know that He can trust you with the wealth of the land, the wealth of the mountain where He has called you to serve (money, resources, tools, information, knowledge, food) to help the people during times of famine and not sell it trying to make a profit for yourself.  We are entering the season when the Josephs will arise.  Did you read the prophetic word for 2019?  Here it is. Under the section, spiritually fat disgruntled people, the ones in the vault are the ones with the Joseph anointing.  It is their time now.  That’s why I’m taking the time to write all of this so that you can be ready to step into that.  When you hear people talk about stock market crashes and all of this, it is just a set up (another stepping stone) for the Josephs.  Remember, he came forth in a time of famine.  It won’t look pretty to the world but the Josephs will be in place to take up their role and feed the people.  Is there not a famine of the word in the land now?  People are malnourished and need meat and potatoes. The world needs the Josephs for the mountain of religion.

I’m sure if you went through the bible and read any of the stories of the greats, Abraham, Moses, David, Deborah, Esther you would probably be able to identify the 7 Spirits of God on them.

For those of you who are reading this and you believe you have this mantle but at the same time you see that you have the enemies of the mantle operating in your life.  Not against you but in you.  This is a plot from the enemy.

I have seen that most people who will walk in healing and miracles suffer chronic illness.  The people with the Solomon and Joseph anointing are generally broke!  They have financial troubles.  Those who are called to be warriors struggle with fear (remember Gideon).  The people destined for those anointings usually look the opposite of it until they get delivered.

The enemy is always going to attack you will the very thing you have as your anointing.

Do not be discouraged if you have a spirit of jealousy while you still believe you have the Joseph anointing.  This is something the enemy does to keep you away from your anointing and mantle.

Remember Revelation 2:26-28 which basically says when you overcome a thing you rule over it.

So what do you do? You pray and you fast (water fast is a power fast for deliverance, Daniel Fast is a revelatory fast) until you get delivered from it.  Or you find a deliverance ministry and keep going after your freedom until you are freed from it.

The story ends in Genesis 50 with Joseph saying that he wants his bones brought back to the land of promise when God comes to rescue and deliver His people.  That means he believed God up to his death.  He wasn’t even alive to see the deliverance but he believed with his whole heart that God would deliver his people.  And, so we see in Exodus 13:19 that Moses did in fact leave Egypt with Joseph’s bones.  Joseph was prophetic and he believed in God’s word up to the very end.

That’s all I have for you.  At the end of the day it’s more than just gifts, anointings or mantles.  I hope you can see that.   Pray about the 7 Spirits of God.  Ask Him for it but remember you need to go through your process and He will deliver it to you.  This is for everyone and not just a select few; however, only a few ever put themselves on the altar.

Here’s a prayer for you when you are ready to begin the process..

Yahweh your Elohim is Esh Oklah, El Kanna (The Lord your God is a consuming fire) may He burn up everything within me that is dross.  That is worthless to His purposes upon the earth.  Purify me Oh God and make me pure as gold to be molded in your Hand.  Formed and fashioned for your purposes to be used for your Glory in this time of famine.  May I come forth under the power and anointing of the Seven Spirits of God in your fullness of the Spirit, Wisdom, Knowledge, Understanding, Counsel, Might, Fear of the Lord when I am read.  Anoint me with all the gifts to wear the mantle you have ordained for me. Thank you for molding me into your image and for using me to glorify You in all the earth, in Jesus name, Amen
