Here are 50  short bible verses which are perfect if you are trying to memorize scripture.  If you begin to practice memorizing at least one of these each day and say it for the whole week within a few short months you will know a lot of bible verses.

These are also family friendly so you can do this with your children.

We are giving these short bible verses to you in the New King James Version and we have a few in the New International Version.



We’ll start off with the shortest verse in the bible

John 11:35 New King James Version (NKJV) “Jesus wept.”

1 Thessalonians 5:16 “Rejoice always, ”

Romans 10:13 “For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Matthew 11:30 (NIV) “For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Matthew 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.”

Colossians 3:20 “Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” (OK, this one is a little longer but we couldn’t give you verse 5 without verse 6 and most of you already know this one!)

John 10:11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.”

1 John 4:19 (NIV) “We love because he first loved us.”

Proverbs 15:22Without counsel, plans go awry, But in the multitude of counselors they are established.”

Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

Proverbs 10:12Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins.”
