Last week, we talked about God creating a counterpart and we also learnt that we were all given a mission, a purpose or a mandate in the earth. Here it is
Genesis 1:28
28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
Notice that all of these things that we are ruling over has a body and dwells in the earth realm. That is the first thing you need to know because this will help you to understand what you can and cannot do.
When Christ walked the earth and the disciples were in training, this is what He said…
Mark 16:17
17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues;
The word translated “demon” in the New Testament describes personal, malevolent spiritual beings opposed to the Lord, often called “unclean spirits.” They are neither mythical forces nor impersonal illnesses but conscious rebels aligned with Satan. Their activity is consistently portrayed as destructive toward humanity and hostile toward the purposes of God.
Which shouldn’t be confused with…
Ephesians 6:12-13a
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God,
Rulers means…
Archē appears fifty-six times in the New Testament and consistently conveys the idea of primacy—whether temporal (“the start”), causal (“the source”), or governmental (“the ruler”). Scripture applies the term to creation’s dawn, to governing powers seen and unseen, and supremely to the Lord Jesus Christ, the One who frames all history as “the Beginning and the End.”
Therefore, unless you are also a RULER, you need to put on the Armor of God any other kindof warfare going after this, may not end so well for you.
Authorities means…
Used 102 times in the Greek New Testament, ἐξουσία describes the right, privilege, or jurisdiction to act. It traces every exercise of legitimate power back to God, who alone possesses it inherently and who delegates it according to His redemptive purposes.
In the demonic realm, this is what we call a territorial spirit. It governs the entire territory or region and to identify this all you have to do is look around your city and see what sin is prevalent there. That is how you know what it is…poverty, greed, sexual perversion, homelessness, violence and crime, witchcraft…just look around you. If majority of the people are engaged in it, that’s the territorial spirit or at least one of them.
THEREFORE, unless you walk in territorial authority, you need to just go ahead and put on the Armor of God because attempting to engage it may not end so well for you.
Powers means…
The single New Testament appearance of 2888 designates malevolent, supramundane intelligences that exercise dominion over the present, fallen world-order. The term pictures them as “world-rulers,” emphasizing the scope of their malign influence across political, cultural, and ideological spheres.
(clears throat) Do you have that level of power?? I think you should just go ahead and put on the Armor of God otherwise engaging this thing may not end so well for you.
Then the final one is spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms and this one is the demon which is what you can bind and cast out.
That means the only one you may be able to handle as a believer in Christ is the last one, if any! And even with that you STILL have to put on the Armor of God.
There is nowhere in Ephesians 6, that tells us to cast out these spirits, instead it says put on the Armor of God and stand, stand, stand. Because most of us, that is all we are able to do.
For you to step into the next level of this you need to have the spiritual AUTHORITY to handle it and in some cases POWER.
Yes, you have the Holy Spirit and He does impart power in situations where He called you to be.
How do you get spiritual power and authority? Through an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. You have to have a very close relationship with the Lord or that is not going to happen.
So now the question becomes, how will you know if you can or cannot engage a spirit?
Well, it possessed someone and the Lord told you to cast it out. This would be the first one. Majority of the possessions will be with lower level demons that you will be able to command. Not all, but most. Sometimes those higher level spirits will possess people and in those cases you should not be engaging it.
When you are engaging it keep in mind that sometimes you still won’t be able to cast them out due to these reasons…
1 You’re just not at the faith level yet (Matthew 17:18-20)
Mark 9:25-29 NKJV
25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, “Deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of him and enter him no more!” 26 Then the spirit cried out, convulsed him greatly, and came out of him. And he became as one dead, so that many said, “He is dead.” 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose.
28 And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?”
29 So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.”
2 Some things you will need to fast to get rid of it. Daniel fast is the lowest level, so you may need to just go on a complete fast with no eating to get rid of it.
3. Sometimes that spirit is way above your pay grade. Meaning you do not have the spiritual authority to engage it because it has a name.
If you read the New Testament you will notice it says deaf and dumb spirit, unclean spirit, evil spirit, etc. These are not names and they were able to cast them out. They are not so far up the chain that I shared with you in Ephesians 6:12. Once that thing has a name, that tells you that it is at a higher level authority. AND, the only way for you to get rid of it is that your name is also known BY HEAVEN and you have the delegated authority from Jesus to address it.
I’m not talking about you were on Oprah. Or you have 1 million Facebook followers, who cares?! I am talking about in the realm of the spirit. Do they know your name?
Because when you start interacting with spirits that have a name, you are at a different level of warfare. The run of the mill bind it and cast it out doesn’t work. You need authority and power or it won’t leave.
Just so that you understand what I mean when I say it has a name, here are some scriptures below…
Matthew 12:24
24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, “This Man does not cast out demons, except by Beelzebub the ruler of the demons.”
Job 41:1-2
“Can you draw out Leviathan with a hook,
Or snare his tongue with a line which you lower? Can you put a reed through his nose,
Or pierce his jaw with a hook?
Job 40:15
15 “Look at Behemoth,
which I made along with you
and which feeds on grass like an ox.
Notice this scripture below that the one that can fight it also has a name and is at the same level…
Daniel 10:20-21
20 So he said, “Do you know why I have come to you? Soon I will return to fight against the prince of Persia, and when I go, the prince of Greece will come;21 but first I will tell you what is written in the Book of Truth. (No one supports me against them except Michael, your prince.
Daniel 10 are territorial spirits and the name tells you the territory.
Whatever you are battling “Does it have a name?” Because that is when you need to ask yourself the question, do I have a name in that realm? Am I operating in the God’s power and authority to take it on? Did the Lord call me to do this or is this just me fighting?
This is not to put fear in you it is simply to say this…
Romans 12:3
For by the grace [of God] given to me I say to everyone of you not to think more highly of himself [and of his importance and ability] than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has apportioned to each a degree of faith [and a purpose designed for service].
WHEN the moment comes for you to take on something, YOU will know because the LORD HIMSELF is going to tell you to do it and there will be ZERO fear in you to take it on. Your FAITH level will be so high that it won’t even feel like a battle because you’ll have to 5 stones and the sling (a ridiculous strategy that worked!!!!!!!!!) to take it out and win. Outside of that, STAND, with your Armor on.
Don’t fight battles or take on unnecessary warfare that God never asked you to fight.
When humans take on these things and win it is because in that very moment they have the delegated POWER and AUTHORITY of the Almighty God to do it. So if you see someone else do it, and it worked out for them, make sure that your walk with the Lord is at the same level otherwise it will not go well for you.
There is a saying where I come from “puss and dawg don’t have the same luck!” LOL
Meaning a cat and a dog doesn’t have the same luck because one of them has 9 lives and the other doesn’t!!! A can jump out of a 3 story building land on its feet and walk away, let that dog try the same thing and see what happens!
You see folks how I fight warfare and how most people fight warfare is not the same. I messed up about 3 times BIGLY and then God had to sit me down and show me. I at least figured out each time that it was best to ask the million dollar question….Where did I go wrong with this?
If you do not stop when you make a mistake or you got a beat down from the devil to find out why you lost, then you will never learn. If you don’t understand how the enemy got access to you, you will never learn.
So my advice to you if you are losing all of your spiritual battles is to step back and consult the Lord on it. Find out where you went wrong because you obviously messed up somewhere.
In the beginning of my journey with intercession, I used to pray super long warfare prayers that went on and on 7 hour prayer sessions that quite frankly feels like a game of pin the tail on the donkey, many hours later still wondering if I hit the target.
I used to do this until I realize that when that happens it is only because I have no idea what I am doing and I have no divine revelation on that thing.
David didn’t try multiple strategies, Saul even offered his armor…David said no! I am going to do it the way God says… 5 stones and a sling! No matter how odd the method, that thing worked!
We pray for hours when we are praying from the earth realm up into the 2nd heaven. We’re looking up and throwing arrows hoping that we’ll hit something….but still not sure.
When you are praying from 3rd heaven downwards, you can already see it because you’re above it. Therefore, you just operating EXACTLY as Jesus said…
John 5:19
Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.
John 12:49
This is because I have never spoken on My own authority or of My own accord or as self-appointed, but the Father Who sent Me has Himself given Me orders [concerning] what to say and what to tell.
I will also add that I will only go where the Father tells me to go. Otherwise, I’m not going.
Twice when I came upon spirits with names and almost got myself in trouble I was at an event where I never asked the Lord if I should go there, I just went because I was invited.
A lot of people that are talking about fighting Jezebel, have never actually met that spirit face to face. That thing has a name! You’ve met people with the sin that aligns with it (control, manipulation, intimidation, pride) but you never met the actual spirit.
How do you know if you met the spirit? It tried to kill you. Remember Elijah? He ran like a crazy man out of there and went into the desert!! The same man who called down fire from heaven, who walked in power. Then he basically told God to find someone else to do the job.
That is how terrifying that spirit is.
Then John the Baptist said to have the same spirit of Elijah (Luke 1:17) didn’t fair so well because he was already in prison so she (Herodias) demanded his head on a platter and got it.
So yeah, if it didn’t try to kill you, you never met it!
The one and only time I came face to face with it, I was trembling like a leaf and the Father had to come and rescue me because I didn’t know if I was going to make it out of there alive. I was just leading this prayer group for this conference and doing the Lord’s work (is it even the Lord’s work if He never sent you??) and it all went off the rails.
As I was driving home after I escaped I starting asking the questions…What went wrong Lord? What did I do wrong?? What happened here?? Then He immediately gave me a vision of myself standing at the base of a building
And I saw that building falling down on me and His hand came out and went between me and the building and he held up the building and I moved from under the building before He moved his hand and the building fell right in the spot where I as standing.
Oh my goodness! I bawled like a baby! Because I could feel the weight of what could’ve happened if He didn’t step in personally stopped it from happening.
Then He said audibly something to the effect of “You never asked Me” In a thundering voice that rumbling like thunder on my inside! I realized that I never asked Him if I should’ve taken on that role. I did it because a friend asked me to do it.
I just kept saying “Thank you Lord, Thank you Father” while bawling over and over again because it was at that very moment that I understood the gravity of what almost to happened to me.
I’ve bound up and cast things out before this, but not this time. This thing was not some regular demon. This thing comes with fear and intimidation like I have never felt before and that is when I understood why Elijah ran.
The next time I met another one with a name, I wasn’t leading any prayer group, I just attended an event. You see when the Lord said what He said I thought that only meant don’t pray for things or take on roles that He didn’t authorize. The truth is what He meant was don’t go anywhere I didn’t tell you to go.
This is very limiting. That means I cannot go anywhere I feel like going, even if it sounds like a good idea. Once there is going to be any level of spiritual activity going on there, I have to consult the Lord first. And again, I did not! I was invited to a breakfast event, how bad can that be??…
There I was at a prayer breakfast and there slithering across the room, meandering around the tables heading straight towards me, Python.
Geez.
To give you full perspective in case you have never seen this thing in the spirit, imagine going into the NYC subway, you see the size of the train? That’s how big it is…The Tube…The TGV…any train, now imagine it is a serpent coming for you! Look at the size of those people next to the train.
Imagine something that size and that long slithering around conference room tables heading directly for you, with its mouth open and bearing fangs! What now? Oh my Lord!
You see, you imagine it in your mind but when you can see in the realm of the spirit, it is a different ballgame.
I was saved about 3 years? I freaked out the first time I saw it and was yelling at the top of my lungs every prayer known to man to get rid of it. In a room full of intercessors and “prophetic” people. We were praying in unison over an issue and they must’ve thought I was passionately praying for it, OH NO! I was fighting for my life! It went away after about 10 minutes when the prayer time came to an end but that quite frankly felt like 10 hours because it was intense prayer for the entire time for me. Remember this is the one that brings divination so it will generally be around people who prophesy. Prophetic conferences, and the likes.
Acts 16:16 Darby
Once, while we were going to the place for prayer, a ·servant [slave] girl met us. She had a ·special spirit [spirit/demon of divination/prediction; L Python spirit; C Python was the serpent god that guarded the Delphic oracle; the term came to be used of the ability to predict the future] in her, and she earned a lot of money for her owners by telling fortunes.
Now here is the part that I believe the church doesn’t emphasize.
YOU CANNOT KILL THEM! Because, they are spirits.
You get tired but they don’t because it is a spirit being. That also means it doesn’t die. They just leave and you may or may not come across them again at another time.
Think about it, from the garden of Eden, the snake. When the enemy fell 1/3 of the angels went with him. They’ve been around forever. You are battling something that is ancient. It knows more about you than you know about yourself. It knows all the history of your generational line that your great grandmother or grand father didn’t tell you. They are not omnipresent so they can only be in one place at a time.
It has all the details on you. It knows you better than you know yourself because it has your history.
Now fast forward and the next time I see this same spirit was 17 years later! It was a completely different experience because now, I’m more spiritually mature, I know who I am now, I’m walking in my calling, I am in a place where I was told to go so I have the Lord’s covering, I operate from the 3rd heaven now, I have a better understanding of the angelic realm, I am now well aware that going in to a war of words with a spirit being or a screaming as loud as I can at the top of my lungs won’t get rid of it. I know that I can’t battle this on my own I have to get angelic being at the same level as the python to get rid of it for me. This time, I don’t think it took me more than 20 seconds to get rid of it, I just told the angel what to do with it and kept it moving. No fear.
But look how long it took me to learn? I’m trying to save you some time here.
Remember what the centurion said
Matthew 8:8-10
8 The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. 9 For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
10 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.
He understood what it meant to be under authority. You have to be under the authority of Christ. And then He gives you the authority when He sends you to do what He asked you to do. You are sent with His Authority and His power to do the job. It’s not you.
You are basically representing the One who sent you. Witches also have no power or authority, they are just representing the one who sent them.
If you notice, they threw Paul in jail after he cast out the python spirit from the girl because once she was disconnected from the one who was giving her the power she could no longer prophesy!!! The business was over! <<<< that part. While there is no way for you to cast out the Holy Spirit from someone, NOT POSSIBLE!
You get authority by spending time with the Lord in the secret place. If you have the personal relationship with Jesus Christ then you are known in the heavenly realms. You’re spending time with the Lord.
You can only take on something that has a name if you have a name too. They know you!
Acts 19:14-16
14 Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. 15 One day the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?” 16 Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding.

Seven sons of Sceva? Hmmm
Now it would be a different story if they went there and it was Larry Sceva, Curly Sceva, Mo Sceva, Spanky Sceva, Buckwheat Sceva, Alfalfa Sceva and their little sister Gisele Sceva.
Anyhoo, they didn’t have a name do you see that? They are not known. It is not wise to take on things with names, when the realm of the spirit doesn’t know your name! You don’t have clearance to take it on.

The point here is this, you do not want to take on entities with names until you know what you are doing. You are better off asking the Lord before stepping into things that you don’t understand. If you messed up, ask the Lord to show you where you went wrong. How did these things get access to you? If we do not learn from our mistakes we will keep making the same ones.
They usually need to have a door to access you, if you close all the doors it is not that easy for them to get to you. There are moments when God will allow something to happen so you can be trained in that area.
When you know better, do better.
I’ve found that there are many ways to get things done BUT it is way easier to do it with divine revelation that comes directly from the Lord instead of spending hours and trying every strategy in the book trying to find one that will make you win. What works for me, may not work for you. Who knows, maybe you’re the cat in the story and you got the 9 lives to spare! LOL. As for this ole dawg, I need to be sure I can stick the landing before jumping out of the 3rd floor window!
If you’re like me and you notice other people can do things and get away with it but the minute you get your pinky toe just a hair over the line you’re catching heat! Welcome! LOL. It just means your calling in the Lord requires PRECISION. You can’t afford to miss so God is training you from the beginning to listen, ask all the right questions before you take on anything and how to walk in complete obedience because when you’ve got authority and power, you are a very dangerous person if you miss the target.
I’ve already written something here on spiritual warfare where I said there are different strategies to use at different levels. This post is just giving you a very clear clue, if it has a name then it is at a higher level.
