This prophetic word is titled What in the Generational Curse is Going on Here? LOL. How’s that for a title?
I could teach and prophesy the book of Genesis for one whole year and I still wouldn’t cover all the meat that the Lord has given us in this book.
Who is this word for? Those who want an understanding of generational curses, how they work and how to break them. AND, for those who don’t even believe it exists! Yes, this is for you too.

This week we are going to talk about the glaring generational curses that I saw as I was reading through Genesis and then I will tell you how to break them based on how I saw the Lord breaking it off Isaac, well let’s say that He tried to break it off. This is going to act as a guideline on how you can begin to recognize them in your own life and your family and how to break them off.
First, let’s go into the scriptures where I will show you the patterns of the curse through the family line.
Sarah – Genesis 11:30 “Now Sarai was childless because she was not able to conceive.”
Eventually Sarah had Isaac and then Isaac married Rebekah.
Rebekah – Genesis 25:21 “Isaac prayed to the Lord on behalf of his wife, because she was childless. The Lord answered his prayer, and his wife Rebekah became pregnant.”
When you get married you do the deed and it happens, right? So why would you need to pray about it other than she had a problem conceiving? She didn’t have to go through years of waiting like Sarah but she had a problem too.
Rebekah has Jacob ad Jacob marries Rachel
Rachel – Genesis 29:31 “When the Lord saw that Leah was not loved, he enabled her to conceive, but Rachel remained childless.”
This is a generational curse. It is a pattern that exists that is against God’s best for you! It is the opposite of a blessing. A curse is the product of sin. It is generational because it passes from one generation in a family to the next and will go unchecked until someone breaks it. In your family that someone is YOU that’s why you’re reading this.
Another example…
There is a law of the Firstborn, the Firstborn son is to get a double portion and he is dedicated to the Lord. However, time and time again this has not happened. Read Exodus 13 and also…
Deuteronomy 21:15-17
15 If a man has two wives, and he loves one but not the other, and both bear him sons but the firstborn is the son of the wife he does not love,16 when he wills his property to his sons, he must not give the rights of the firstborn to the son of the wife he loves in preference to his actual firstborn, the son of the wife he does not love. 17 He must acknowledge the son of his unloved wife as the firstborn by giving him a double share of all he has. That son is the first sign of his father’s strength. The right of the firstborn belongs to him.
Did this happen for Ishmael? No.
It also didn’t happen for Esau.
It also didn’t happen for Rueben.
It also didn’t happen for Manasseh.
So what gives? A curse that is generational. And I’m just stopping Manasseh because I am sure if you continue to follow the first born going down the line you’ll continue to see the pattern. Even if it jumps one generation it pops back up in the next one.
Sin. The devil entices people to sin, once they step into it they send their family line down a path of sin, transgression, iniquity, generational curse <<<. I’ll teach you about this next week.
The point is, it doesn’t stop until you break it through repentance, turning from the sin and lining up your actions and behaviors with righteousness.
And Another example…
Abram and Egypt
Genesis 12:10
10 Now there was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to live there for a while because the famine was severe. 11 As he was about to enter Egypt, he said to his wife Sarai, “I know what a beautiful woman you are. 12 When the Egyptians see you, they will say, ‘This is his wife.’ Then they will kill me but will let you live. 13 Say you are my sister, so that I will be treated well for your sake and my life will be spared because of you.”
Isaac and Egypt
Genesis 26:1-7
Now there was a famine in the land—besides the previous famine in Abraham’s time—and Isaac went to Abimelek king of the Philistines in Gerar. 2 The Lord appeared to Isaac and said, “Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land where I tell you to live. 3 Stay in this land for a while, and I will be with you and will bless you. For to you and your descendants I will give all these lands and will confirm the oath I swore to your father Abraham. 4 I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and will give them all these lands, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, 5 because Abraham obeyed me and did everything I required of him, keeping my commands, my decrees and my instructions.” 6 So Isaac stayed in Gerar.
7 When the men of that place asked him about his wife, he said, “She is my sister,” because he was afraid to say, “She is my wife.” He thought, “The men of this place might kill me on account of Rebekah, because she is beautiful.”
Oh me oh my! Famine comes, straight to Egypt! Isaac wasn’t born when Abraham went to Egypt so we can’t even say that he saw his father do it because he did not.
How does this look in your own life? Think about a famine as drought, an area of your life that is not producing fruit. It is barren. Egypt could be an addiction or a sin. Something you do when you are down, depressed, things are not going well. Once you get to Egypt, this pulls you into shame because you know you are not supposed to be there or be doing that. Because you are now in shame (you’re ashamed of it) you now start to lie and cover up the fact that you are in Egypt.
Egypt happens because there is famine. If everything was going well in your life, you wouldn’t need Egypt.
Question #1 – In the areas of your life where there is no fruit, when you are not seeing results and things are not good where do you go? What do you do when things are not good? If it is a sin THAT is your Egypt.
The Lord quickly stopped Isaac from walking in the curse. Now if you’ve read the Bible, you are well aware that when the next famine came the 12 tribes ended up right back in Egypt where they were enslaved for 400 years!!!
This is how you spot the curse. It’s a pattern in your generational line. They all went back to Egypt, which is not Canaan, the land where God told them to stay and He would bless them there. Do you see that? They kept going back to the place where God told them not to go!
Egypt is a place of enslavement. That’s why God kept trying to get them from out of that place. It’s like an addiction or a pattern of sin where it is hard for you to break out of it. And if you stay there too long, you now have a pharaoh spirit assigned to you to stop you from ever leaving there.
Just don’t go to “Egypt”.
GOD stopped it! Isaac did not go to Egypt because the Lord made sure he didn’t do it. How do we know he was even going there? Here is the map, the brown shows Abraham’s journey and the purple shows Isaac’s. Tanis is Egypt.
We already know from Genesis 25:11 that Isaac lived in Beer Lachai Roi, so why did he go to Gerar? He was heading north to make a clear way to go over to Egypt. Heading south, instead of north is the harder path because you are talking about wilderness in that area. Going north he takes a straight path west over into Egypt. By going to Gerar, he exposed his heart to the Lord. The next town over was Egypt.
You know what it is like to have the sin in your heart and you are ready to conceive it? Man oh man! It is so hard to back up! BECAUSE you are already thinking about it! Heart, mind, here comes the action!
You start planning out in your head what your next steps are, even though you haven’t done it yet. He heads off to Gerar because the next place was right over to Tanis (Egypt)
GOD stopped him. However, because it was already conceived in his heart he is now still walking in the rest of the curse… the lying, “she’s not my wife she is my sister”
And, GOD stopped it again because he made Abimelek watch him through the window with Rebekah and saw that his mannerisms were not that of brother and sister but husband and wife. (Genesis 26:8-11)
Now, here is something new that the Lord showed me in this scenario. Not only was he NOT to go to Egypt but why is he even in Gerar? The Lord told him, stay in this land because I made a covenant with your father that is now on you (paraphrasing here) “this land” doesn’t mean Gerar it means Canaan. And Gerar is too close to Egypt.
I see this as us cutting off the sin (changing our mind about it) but remaining too close in proximity to it. You know you made a vow to stop drinking alcohol, but there you are going to the bars with your friends….but you’re drinking club soda! Why go to the bar to begin with? Just stay away period!
If there is an area in your life that is a slippery slope to the sin, just don’t go there. If it is a hop, skip and a jump from that thing you were delivered from, move away from there!!
So while he did not go to Egypt because he was obeying the Lord, by staying in Gerar that sin was still in his heart. If he was being 100% obedient he should’ve left Gerar completely and gone back to Beer Lachai Roi but he didn’t.
Now leads to the story of him redigging the wells that Abraham had to get water in the famine. Please read this so you can understand what I am about to say Genesis 26:12-24
Perhaps, you’ve heard the redigging of the wells story taught before in another way but since the Lord was highlighting the generational curse to me this time, I realized that the final well which he was allowed to keep was in Beersheba, the FURTHEST from Gerar. He was redigging his father’s 7 wells (walking in the footsteps of is father) and the Phillistines kept sabotaging it and he had to keep moving to the next well and the next and then the next. He was allowed to keep the last one which turns out to be the furthest from Gerar.
Look at the map again…
He was facing issues because God wanted him out of that area. Removed from the idea of Egypt. SEPARATION from Gerar. Not that the other teachings on the wells were not right but looking at it from the map, I can’t help but think that God was allowing those wells to be taken from him so that he would have to move out of Gerar and to Beersheba which is the furthest well from Gerar. He was allowed to keep the well in Beersheba and He was successful, he didn’t feel the effects of the famine and he was away from Gerar. Continuing to read you will see that his generation moved further north each time deeper into Canaan instead of away from it.
Gerar can also be viewed as a back up plan, just in case it doesn’t work out then I can do this ____________. When God has already clearly said, Egypt is not an option!
In a sense, the hidden generational curse that is not clearly stated in the bible is that Isaac is very much like Abraham in that even through God said Ishmael is not my choice, he still kept Ishmael around. While He told Isaac not to go to Egypt but he continued to stay in Gerar instead of going back to his home.
They obeyed but somewhere in their heart, they were still holding on to something.
If you believe what the said, the promise that He made to you, then you don’t have someone or something else waiting in the wings. YOU CUT IT OFF and send them along their way! There is no other option other than what God said.
Question #2 – Do you have a Gerar? The backup in case the promise doesn’t happen? It is a sign of unbelief.

How do you break a generational curse?
I know some of you are thinking, this is Old Testament and Christ came and died for these curses.
Yes!! You are correct! 1000%
Galatians 3:13
13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”)
When you came to know the Lord and you repented of your sins, He paid for them in full and you were cleanse from it all! The curse on your family line that was attached to you was wiped clean in a second!
This is 1000% correct.
Did you have one of these growing up where you draw on it and then you just swipe and everything gets erased?
At the moment when you repented, and received Christ, HE swiped and the records were erased and you are clean!
I am sure when He found you, you were in sin, it was around you, in your environment. Egypt and Gerar was right there and YOU needed to move away from it.
This is the outline of breaking the curse that the Lord has shown us in the scriptures, MOVE away from the sin.
You’re forgiven but now you go through a process and I will explain to you the process to complete freedom from generational curses!
1. You were supposed to pick up your bible and start reading it after you got saved. Because…
Romans 12:1-2
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Your mind. Your mind. Your mind. Your mind. Your mind.
Is still very much programmed with the old way and the ONLY way for you to renew your mind to THINK the way GOD wants you to think, is by reading your bible.
You CANNOT renew your mind with a prophetic word, because you are only getting a piece of the story. You CANNOT renew your mind by just going to church, because you’re only getting a piece of the story even if your pastor is the best in the world. You CANNOT renew your mind just by praying, because what exactly are you praying when you don’t even know what the bible says?
You MUST read your bible. The bible is what will begin to transform your thoughts and instruct you in the way to go. It will tell you how to live your life, what you are to do and not do.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Did you read the bible when you got saved? All of it? Front cover to back cover. Genesis to Revelation. Any book that you skipped over could very well hold the piece of information that you needed to change your life. Start TODAY.
2. Reading the word of God was the beginning of your mind and clean up your thought life. Then you needed to take what was in your mind and move it to your heart and then live it out because….
Proverbs 23:7
For as he thinks in his heart, so is he…
You can know something to be true in your mind, but your heart may not believe it. The evil that people do comes from out of their heart, it is where the true beliefs live. You can go to church and sound very “spiritual” even quote scriptures but your heart is still very much bent on doing evil and thinking evil about those around you.
Matthew 15:18-19
But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander. These are what defile a person.
So it is in your heart, that you need to change after reading the bible.
What do you do when you read the bible and you realize that what you are reading and what you believe in your heart is not the same thing?
2 Corinthians 10:5
5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
You CAPTURE the thought and demolish it. I created a Video Series here the perfectly explained how to do it.
You can know a lot of information but if you don’t know HOW to break the thought patterns, you won’t break out of it.
3. After your mind is renewed, and your heart is now aligned with the word of God and you believe it, the final step is doing it.
You have to do the word. You have to be the word. You have to speak the word. Your actions have to line up with the word. You have to look like the word.
There are several definitions for the word Grace. The one I am referencing now is a Divine Enablement to do the will of God.
Grace not only pardons; it transforms. Titus 2:11-12 states, “The grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly passions.” The same unmerited favor that justifies also educates, disciplines, and empowers holy living. Hebrews urges believers to “draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16). Progressive sanctification is fueled by repeated approaches to that throne.
The reason the unbelievers cannot change is that they don’t have the Holy Spirit and the grace of God needed to enable them to change.
When you became saved, and received Christ as your Savior, you received the Holy Spirit who then works in you to bring about the change.
Change is not easy! Especially when it is in your generational line. You are in an environment where it is easy to remain the same. Therefore, GOD is the one who gives you the GRACE to change.
Not, the cheap grace that says continue doing the same thing God loves you! No, the kind of grace you need to become the bible! Looking more like Jesus day after day! The divine enablement for change.
When we use the term “extending grace to others” really what we are doing is overlooking the things that they’ve done that we deem as wrong. And, this is valid. When others are extending grace to us, this was not meant to be a permanent thing. “This is just how I am” is not acceptable, especially when it is a sin.
Extending grace is a temporary thing so that God’s grace is there to help us change permanently, to free us from the generational curses.
Titus 2:11-13
11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,
The grace of God saves us and then teaches us and enables us to live a life that looks like we are saved. In other words, whatever you need to change God has it ready and waiting for you to get it. Just ask!
Ask for it! Daily, if you have to…
Almighty GOD give me the grace today to ___________________. Grant me the grace to move away from (your Gerar) and to never enter or desire (your Egypt), in Jesus name, Amen!
If you do this, you will never see the generational curses in your life. However, if you don’t they will still very much be there!

I am all about the practical so let’s examine what this would look like in your life.
Let’s say that everyone in your family ends up with type 2 Diabetes – you already know that this comes from excessive amounts of sugar, which can come from too much sugar or carbohydrates that turn into sugar/glucose.
You’ve cut off that curse through prayers but now you need to change your habits to align with a lifestyle that is not going to lead you down that path. Praying about it is not enough, you need to change your eating habits!
Buying the dozen donuts and having it on the counter in your house is Gerar, why did you buy it in the first place? What happens next when it is now at your house? Next stop, Egypt!
If you continue to each sugar, that curse is very much there!
Let’s say you come from a family where majority of the children are born out of wedlock. The only way that can happen is if you have sex (fornication) with someone that is not your spouse. There’s no other way this can happen. Therefore, the next time you meet someone that is interested in you, this kind of activity is out of the question. Then they ask if they can come to your house while no one else is at the house… GERAR! Too close for comfort! The next thing you know, something happened and now the economy is bad and they tell you to move in with them. What is that? Egypt. Next up, the generational curse is back!
Your mind being renewed would not lead you to making these decisions, your feelings for that person can’t be put above what the bible says. Your job is to stay away from anything that looks like Gerar because that is one step away from Egypt and bondage to sin which will lead to the generational curse..
Sometimes the generational curse is an attitude or mindset, how you are thinking that will lead you to sin. So you identify it by listening to how people describe you or identifying it in your family line. When you have family gatherings, LISTEN. It will sound like this…
You are so stubborn just like your mother! (1 Samuel 15:23) That means you have the framework for idolatry.
You are so rebellious just like your grandpa, is the same way he would never follow any of the rules. The road sign says no left turn, and there he is making the left turn……ha ha ha ha. So hard ears! ha ha ha They think it is funny but it is not. You need to at this point start asking the questions… where did he get this from was his father like this too? Start listening for it because you’ll be able to see it and the next thing you know, your children are doing the same thing. It is a curse because you can see it through different generations. That means you have the framework for witchcraft in your family (1 Samuel 15:23), which would explain why you keep getting attacked by witches. You may even have people practicing witchcraft in your family. Your family is attracting them because of the rebellion. Like attracts like. So not only do you need to pray against the witchcraft but you also need to dismantle the root which is the rebellion. And then you line up your behaviors…STOP breaking the rules. STOP circumventing the rules. STOP rebelling against authority figures in your life.
If you don’t stop this when God says go left, you are going right while finding a scripture to justify your behavior!
Whenever you get compared to anyone in your family and the comparison is not a good one, that’s a curse! Because if you were to look at the generations before this person you would see the same attitude or behavior. This is how you identify it. You can have three sisters, everyone in one sister’s line is single all of the children out of wedlock, everyone in the other sister’s line is divorce. Everyone in the other sister’s line has some type of terminal illness. Three generations down the line and it is the same pattern, it’s a generational curse! And all of them can be very much saved
Pay attention. It is God showing you clearly the curse on your bloodline.
When people come to this ministry asking us to pray against their generation curse, the answer is always NO.
Do you know why? I am not there in the supermarket with you when you are buying the donuts. I am not there in your kitchen telling you to step away from the donuts because you just prayed to break the curse of diabetes off your family line and you’re already overweight. I AM NOT THERE!
The best thing I can do for you, is educate you and teach you how to stop it but YOU still have to do it. Change is hard, God is not giving me the grace to give to you, He is putting the GRACE WITHIN YOU, so that YOU can change it. You need to take personal responsibility when it comes to generational curse. It’s not my family, it is your family. This is not about a one time prayer.
YOU have to manage your own thoughts, actions, habits and behaviors. The prayer breaks it but you need to maintain it. I have no control over your own self control.
When you actively engage in praying against the curses, you become aware of what they are and then you will begin to guard your heart, your mind and your behaviors so you don’t fall into the traps that pulls you and your entire line back into it.
YOU have to break it. Start identifying it in your bloodline, pray against it, and then you will have an awareness of your own action. You’ll start to see when your children start walking in the path of the curse so you can talk to them and stop it.
No one is coming to do this for you, you have to do it for yourself. It’s your own bloodline and family.
Singles – before you get married pray and decipher what you are joining yourself to. The two become one is not a joke! Once you married to it, you now are grafted into it and your children will now pick up what is coming from both sides of the family. You and your spouse need to be on the same page where this is concerned so that you and your children are completely separated from the curses on both sides of the family.

Life is about making choices, whether or not you have generational curses still attached to your bloodline has to do with the choices you made after you came to Christ. It is that simple. Choices.
Deuteronomy 30:19-20
19 “Today I am giving you a choice of two ways. And I ask heaven and earth to be witnesses of your choice. You can choose life or death. The first choice will bring a blessing. The other choice will bring a curse. So choose life! Then you and your children will live. 20 You must love the Lord your God and obey him. Never leave him, because he is your life. And he will give you a long life in the land that he, the Lord, promised to give to your ancestors—Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”
