We all need to be encouraging bible verses in our lives.  Even though we are saved we go through moments when we get in a funk and maybe even a little

depressed. That’s when you need some encouraging scriptures.

Even King David, whom God called a man after His own heart, had those days when he felt very discouraged.  So what do we do when feel discouragement?  We pray and we read God’s word to receive the encouragement that we need from the scriptures.

God’s word has the ability to change our heart, mind and life!  His word is sharp and active and can change the most depressing moments into ones of hope, faith and joy!

Encouraging Scriptures

Isaiah 43 :1-5 ~ “But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I gave Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in your place. Since you were precious in My sight, You have been honored, And I have loved you; Therefore I will give men for you, And people for your life. Fear not, for I am with you”

 

John 14:27 ~  “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

 

Philippians 4:19 ~ “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

 

Isaiah 40:30-31 ~ “Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.”

 

2 Timothy 1:7 ~ “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

 

Romans 16:20 ~ “And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.”




Psalm 55:22 ~ “Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.”

 

Philippians 4:6-7 ~ “ Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;  and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

 

Jeremiah 29:11 ~ “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Psalm 103:1-5 ~ “Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:  Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,  Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

 

Zephaniah 3:17 ~ “The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”

Psalm 100:1-3 ~ “Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing.  Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.”

Psalm 18:32-34 ~ “It is God who arms me with strength, And makes my way perfect.  He makes my feet like the feet of deer, And sets me on my high places. He teaches my hands to make war, So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.”

 

Jeremiah 17:7-8 ~  “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.”

 

Deuteronomy 7:9 ~ “Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments”

Matthew 11:28-30 ~ “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

 

1 John 5:14-15 ~ “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”

Mark 4:39 ~  “Peace, be still!”

Deuteronomy 33:27 ~ “ The eternal God is your refuge, And underneath are the everlasting arms; He will thrust out the enemy from before you, And will say, ‘Destroy!’

Psalm 46:10  ~ “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”

Psalm 9:9-10 ~ “The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, A refuge in times of trouble.  And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.”

Revelation 21:4 ~ “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

 

Psalm 16:8 ~ “I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.”
2 Corinthians 5:8 ~ “We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.”

Psalm 46:1-2a ~ “God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear”




Romans 8:37-39 ~ “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Psalm 36:5-6 ~ “Your mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. Your righteousness is like the great mountains; Your judgments are a great deep; O Lord, You preserve man and beast.”

 

Psalm 136:26 ~ “Oh, give thanks to the God of heaven!  For His mercy endures forever.”

Psalm 34:17-19 ~ “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit.  Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all.”

Psalm 27:1 ~ “The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?”

Jeremiah 32:27 ~ “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?”

 

Psalm 34:8 ~ “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!”

Romans 8:28 ~ “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

Psalm 121:1-6 ~ “ I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help?  My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber.  Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night.”
