Prayer and bible verses for Father’s Day!
We should never overlook that the first human that was created was a man. He was here first! That means in the order of thing the male comes first and hence they are the leaders in our household.
Today, and all other days, we should take the time to honor the men in our lives and the fathers. Even the men who don’t have their natural children but have been spiritual fathers and mentors. There are even natural fathers who’ve helped to mentor youths who may not have their natural fathers around.
We just want to take the time to say Thank You! Know that your contribution to society is critical. We need your leadership.
Even if you didn’t have good memories of your earthly father growing up, remember that you have a Heavenly Father who loves you very much and you can honor Him on Fathers Day as well.
These bible verses will help for you to reflect on your earthly father and your heavenly Father.
Proverbs 20:7 Amplified Bible (AMP) “The righteous man who walks in integrity and lives life in accord with his [godly] beliefs—How blessed [happy and spiritually secure] are his children after him [who have his example to follow].”
Proverbs 23:24 New International Version (NIV) “The father of a righteous child has great joy; a man who fathers a wise son rejoices in him.”
Ephesians 6:4 “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.”
Romans 8:15 “The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”
Deuteronomy 5:16 ““Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the Lord your God is giving you.”
Hebrews 12:5-11 (NIV) “And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says,“My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.” Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all. Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live! They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.”
Here is a prayer for the Fathers:
Abba Father, we thank you for our earthly fathers. Today we honor them so that we may have long lives in this land that you are giving us. Thank you for providing for them and for continuing to build them up in the faith. Bring peace and comfort to them. Give them joy, courage and strength. Grant grace so they may do the things that are difficult. Thank you for the love, nurturing and discipline that they give to us. We ask that Your love will continue to cover the multitude of sins and blot out the imperfections as we know they are human. May we continue to honor them beyond Fathers Day and support them. Give then health so they may have long lives. Show us how to be a better sons/daughters to them and how we can encourage them so that they may walk even closer to you. We are asking you to continue guiding them into being strong leaders, give them the wisdom and knowledge they need to be the mentors and godly examples for our next generation. Grant them grace to continue leading our families. As the leader in our household, You know they need the financial resources to do their jobs, we ask that You make it that much easier for them to succeed in business and ministry financially. Teach them how to live balanced lives where they are ever serving You, caring and supporting the family and doing business as well. More importantly, show them how to become closer to You Lord in prayer and through reading the word, in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen
