Can meditation help with weight loss? Of course it can! Remember that God’s word says in Joshua 1:8 “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” So Meditation for Weight Loss does work!
Meditating on bible verses can help you with your weight loss goals. However, it is important to know that biblical meditation is very different from the meditation you’ll hear from Oprah or Deepak Chopra. This is not the same. The bible tells us Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.”
The Christian biblical way of meditation is to fill your mind with God’s word and not to empty it as most new age gurus will tell you. If you want more information on biblical meditation you can click here
Meditation for weight loss can be quite effective but remember that being mindful of what you eat is not the only thing… you still need to get some exercise. You need physical activity. In this age of technology and television, and with most having a desk job, it is hard to fit this into the schedule but you must pray and ask God to show you where and how you can make this a part of your day. Even if you are only doing 10 minutes standing in one spot it is still much better than doing no exercise.
By this time each year most who made the new year’s resolution to lose the weight have already given up! Well, now is a good time for us to address this issue and get you back on track.
Do you know that it takes 21 days to form a habit? That means that if you will stick with this plan for 21 days straight it will become a part of your life.
During this process of meditating for weight loss you must practice mindful eating. What is that? Think about what you are going to eat before you do so. Ask yourself the question, was this is in the garden of Eden? Remember that when God created the garden it was made in perfection before the fall of man. This means that he made the food to perfection in the garden. Are we suggesting that you become a Vegan? Not really. Unless you feel compelled to move in that direction and God has already told you that you need to do this. But, it’s not a bad idea.
Remember that because of our sin we tend to take what was created for our pleasure by God and warp it into something sinful. So instead of having a glass of wine, we go over board and become alcoholics. Instead of eating a piece of cake we gorge on it. Instead of a piece of chicken in the correct serving size we eat half the chicken and gluttony sets in.
To get back on track you need to be mindful of what you are eating. Most say grace before they eat but what if you start to pray BEFORE you put anything on your plate? That may help with your choices especially if you are at the buffet!
Start praying for the next 21 days before you put anything on your plate and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in making the right choices.
We also want to share these scriptures below as a guided meditation to help with your weight loss. Do it for 21 days and see if this doesn’t help you lose the weight and keep it off. Will you accept this 21 day challenge?
Remember that we are told to love the Lord our God with all our heart, mind, soul & strength. The strength is the body. Jesus won’t come down to earth and do this for you. This is something you have to do for yourself. With the help of the Holy Spirit you will be victorious in this endeavor and you can start shedding the weight: mind, body and spirit.
Take one of these scriptures each day and meditate on it, the next day take another and now you will be meditating on 2 of them. The next day meditate on 3 and so on and so forth. If you can remember them before you start eating this will also help alot.
