Psalm 142 – Prayer for Nepal

PRAY FOR NEPAL

Psalm 142 New International Version (NIV)

I cry aloud to the Lord;
    I lift up my voice to the Lord for mercy.
I pour out before him my complaint;
    before him I tell my trouble.

When my spirit grows faint within me,
    it is you who watch over my way.
In the path where I walk
    people have hidden a snare for me.
Look and see, there is no one at my right hand;
    no one is concerned for me.
I have no refuge;
    no one cares for my life.

I cry to you, Lord;
    I say, “You are my refuge,
    my portion in the land of the living.”

Listen to my cry,
    for I am in desperate need;
rescue me from those who pursue me,
    for they are too strong for me.
Set me free from my prison,
    that I may praise your name.
Then the righteous will gather about me
    because of your goodness to me.

Psalm 142 was written by David while is was hidden in a cave hiding from those who were seeking his death.  The desperation that is heard in these Psalms we would imagine is echoed by the victims and family members of those suffering through this earthquake in Nepal.
This prayer is for those who may still be buried from this earthquake in Nepal waiting to be rescued and also for their family members. We pray this psalm of comfort will bring peace to those directly affected.
Prayer for Nepal
Father God, we pray that you would send help to those who may still be trapped under the rubble.  we pray that you would hear our cry for mercy and bring salvation to them.  Both in the physical and more importantly in the spiritual. We know that their spirit grows faint within them and we ask that you would strengthen them by your grace.  Send help!  Lord, you are their help and their refuge in the land of the living.  We praise you in advance for the testimonies that we will hear of your grace, deliverance and salvation through this.  In the midst of the disaster we ask that you bring glory to yourself through these testimonies. Set them free from this prison Lord because of your great mercy.  We pray for the families – strengthen their hearts, bring comfort to them, heal the broken hearted, bind up their wounds and restore hope in You. Lord show us what we can do to show your love to them.  You said faith without works is dead so we ask You to show us what physical act we can perform to be your hands and feet to them, In Jesus Name, Amen
