Prayer For Healing A Sick Pet

Some of you may read this title and think “A prayer for healing a sick pet, really?”

Yes!

The truth we know that in most countries animals are kept outside of the house.  So I would imagine some of you would not think of praying for a sick pet.  Especially when you think of all the people that you know that need prayer.  I’m hoping that by the time you read this article, you will change your mind about this.

You see, to many people their pet is much like a member of the family.  This is their baby.

I am also convinced that dogs were put on this earth to teach us how to love unconditionally.

The first time someone asked me to pray for their sick dog it did take me by surprise but since I told her I would do it I went with the request to God and asked what was His perspective on praying for a dog or a cat.

These are the thoughts that came to me:

1. If pets weren’t important to God then He never would have commanded Noah to take two of each type and put them on the ark when He was about to destroy the earth with a flood. (Genesis 7:16).  Let’s face it He wouldn’t have created them in the first place!

2. Isaiah 65 which is the picture of the new heaven and the new earth has the wolf and the lamb eating together while lions will eat straw.  Even a snake is mentioned! This is the picture and harmony among all animals on the new earth.

3.  Remember that man was the one that brought sickness and death to the earth through sin.  This means that animals, much like man, was created to live forever.  Even the plant life would live forever because there would be no death. Can you imagine your garden blooming year round and nothing dying? We are the ones responsible for animals getting sick.

4.  Nowhere in the bible does it say that your pet hamster, pigs or pet fish has a soul that needs to be saved. While pets are important to God, they are not to be viewed above humans.  You shouldn’t love your animals more than you love a fellow human being.  We have souls that need to be saved and animals do not. The bible clearly shows us that God puts a greater love on humans and so should you. Matthew 6:26 (NIV) “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”

5.  Revelation 19 has Jesus coming back on a white horse.  Through this we know that animals are in heaven.

So now that we have established that pets are important to God and that they are in heaven, let’s talk about the process of healing.

Are you wondering: Can prayer heal the sick animal?

Here are some scriptures to consider before praying for your animals

Proverbs 12:10 (NIV) “The righteous care for the needs of their animals, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.”

Psalm 145:9 (NIV) “The Lord is good to all; He has compassion on all He has made.”

Exodus 23:12 (NIV) “Six days do your work, but on the seventh day do not work, so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and so that the slave born in your household and the foreigner living among you may be refreshed.”

The sabbath rest was not only intended for you but for your animals as well.  Since we have dominion over animals we should be the ones enforcing the rest.

What does the bible say about healing?

Jesus was known in the Bible as the great healer and there are many healing prayer scriptures that you will find speaking of those that he healed. Do you know the story of the woman who had the “issue of blood”? It was her faith that gave her the strength to press on through the crowds until she got to Jesus. She was praying for healing and her faith was so strong that she knew that just by the simple act of touching the hem of his garment she could get that healing that she was praying for. It was the full belief that she had in the healing power of Jesus that caused her to do what she did – in this case she did not even ask! She just touched a piece of Jesus and she was made whole because she believed.

Your sick pet cannot ask either but you know what they need so you can make supplication for them.  Activate your faith and belief in the healing power of Jesus and ask for them.

Can you recall a place in the Bible where Jesus refused to grant the request of a prayer for healing? No, there is no record of that.  Ask God to strengthen your faith so you can believe for healing for your sick animal.

Here is a little prayer for healing your sick pet

Lord I know that I am your child and as such you hold me higher than the angels and the animals that you have created. Even so, pets are all important to you whether it is a dog, cat, lizard, snake, hamster, pig, a fish whatever it may be, you created it. Lord, I thank you for your awesomeness and power, for providing for my every need and the needs of my animal. So, Lord, I come to you now praying for healing for my sick pet, ________. I am in need of your help. You know the exact illness that is afflicting my pet even though he/she cannot speak; I trust your divine guidance in_________life. Help them Lord; deliver _________ from any pain and suffering. Grant ___________ your peace as I place him/her in your capable hands. I ask for healing, I ask for strength, I ask O Lord that your perfect will be accomplish in this pet’s life for your glory, in Jesus name. Amen

If this prayer has blessed you and your animal, please share it with others.

  2. Please pray for Charity. She is a 5 year old flat coated retriever dog. She is one of my only companions in life, since I am very ill myself. She always has a tail wag and you in her mouth. But now she was diagnosed with dilated cardio myopathy. Her heart is failing and fluid is building up in her lungs. We have tried meds both traditional and natural. I have tried prayer and fasting and even annointing her with oil. I have been parting constantly every healing promise that I can find, but all of this to no avail. I am afraid she only has a few days left at most. I need a healing miracle. Please pray for God to look past me and my sins, my lack of faith, my doubt and heal charity. That she has many more years of to us and tail wags. She has given me such unconditional love, she doesn’t deserve to die like this or this soon.
Thank you! Blessing and peace to all

    1. Sorry for the typos, my phone keeps autocorrecting things. It should read, she always has a toy in her mouth. Crying as I type this doesn’t help either. Thank you for this site and for all those who pray.

  3. Please pray for my cat Avery. she is sick in the hospital right now with a high fever that needs to go down. Thank you <3

  4. Please pray for my beautiful soul pet Tabitha, a Tortie colored female cat. She has been with me since adoption from a rescue shelter ten years ago. In the past four days she has not eaten or drank anything. She has ‘head tilt’ and has lost her sense of balance. Tabitha is the most spirit filled cat I have ever met. She LOVES people and will cheerfully get up from a nap to greet me whenever I enter the room she is in or if I’m home all day will not leave my side even if staying close is less comfortable than an alternative a few feet away. She loves to go outside and chase things. She loves being up high and climbing and exploring. I have been praying for her healing but she remains weak and getting weaker. I am bringing her to the vet in an hour from now and I’m hoping the vet will tell me they have the cure. I have been praying about the decision to put her to sleep peacefully – rather than have her fall from a high place and hurt herself, or die a slow death by starvation or dehydration. It is for her that I’ve been crying all morning trying to make the best choice. I know GOD can heal her. I also know that HE has a WILL and sometimes what seems like it shouldn’t be, really should be. I dont want to see her suffer – not even a little bit – and her not being able to bound around the yard and live her free spirited life is suffering in itself. So do I let her languish in her lethargy or do I make the decision to end her suffering for her sake. I’m praying for peace and her well being.

  5. Please
Remember lil Sophia , lil beagle ,in your prayers ..surgery today , … and to whom ever is dealing with feline leukemia,

  6. Prayers please for lil Sophie, a beagle , 10 yrs old or more and momma to my mutt willie ❤️ She was apparently abused earlier on and will
Not let u get close to her. .. so she has been the “neighborhood ” dog for many yrs here after being put out here to hunt rabbit by a young man. She is almost impossible to catch! Very smart old girl. ? So she has been around for awhile with no
Vet care. We have caught her maybe three x in ten yrs, and when caught she will stay rt by my side if in the house. Sooo sweet❤️ But my hubby can’t stand dogs in the house … so I put her in fenced back yard. When she is outside she will not let u get close to her, and then
Digs out when she gets ready to run! So anyway, she has had big knot on her side for yrs that recently started growing. It got so big we were finally able to catch her. We took her to the
Vet, n they said they had never seen a cyst so large ( vet told us earlier it was a cyst) seems she has a
Hernia, after draining ten lbs of fluid off her and an x ray , this is what was determined. She needs surgery and cost will b 800 dollars, plus the costs from this past fri and having her kept until
Monday for surgery. Over 1000 dollars…. I am not rich by any means , but this lil girl has carried that weight around with her for a long time and I would love for her to b able to enjoy her last yrs on earth. She is such a sweetheart, just had a bad start in life I guess. I don’t know why people are mean to innocent animals ? My prayer request is that the surgery will
B successful and she will have a happy , healthy rest of her life. Thank you for reading and prayers. ❤️ If I
Knew how to send a picture I would , u would fall in love ! Love m prayers to u all. Kathy j

  7. My 5 month old kitten junior just stopped eating and drinking. Took him to the vet who treated him for dehydration and gave him an antibiotic just in case but otherwise had no idea what was wrong with him. Brought him home gave him liquids with an eye dropper and food. He wasn’t getting any better, I googled a prayer for my sick kitty and the above prayer showed up. Holding my little junior I read the prayer out loud and by the end of the week end he was eating on his own and is now 100%. Thank you for making my kitty better.

  8. hi all, please pray for my 13 year old lab’s full recovery. she has been mostly ill for the past 10 months, staying in and out of the dog hospital. She has irritable stomach most of the time and has lost 70% of her healthy weight such that her last bout has made her really weak. I know she’s elderly but her child-like soul still shines out of her eyes when she’s not weary. Many thanks for your prayers.

    1. Update: I have had prayer warriors and myself praying novenas, one to St. Jude for his intercession, the other is the Sacred Heart Of Jesus Novena, and prayers for the intercession of St Francis.
At 4:34pm the surgeon called to give me good news on the outcome of the surgery and prognosis. It is better news although he us nit out of the woods yet. I told him of my prayers of intercession so that Our Lord would guide his hand during surgery and he said he felt it. He performed another surgery I to the bladder, something he had not even thought about and removed 1/2 tsp of sand that was once again would block the urinary exit therefore not allowing for the uresthrotomy (redirection of urine from male to female) to function properly and reblicking, making g it difficult to place a catheter which would lead us to have to send him to Rainbow Bridge.
Thank you all for the prayers. May God continue to bless you and heal your babies. Praise the Lord. More updates in a few days.
Who says prayers don’t work? The surely can move mountains.

      1. Flaco continues to improve, not out of the woods yet but taking baby steps to a good recovery. Thank you for your prayers, God bless you all.

  15. Please pray for my 2-month old puppy Tango who contracted parvovirus and is now in the hospital. Vet says there’s a 50-50 chance he’ll make it through but I know he’s a fighter.
