The Psalm 91 Prayer for a Hedge of Protection

The following Prayer is for a hedge of protection around you and your family according to Psalm 91. Psalm 91 is a prayer for Christians only. This is not a prayer to be prayed for or by non Christians as the basis of the protection is seen in Verse 14.  If you would like to know how to become a Christian, see the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  If you would like other scriptures to meditate on for protection and against fear, you can visit this page – Bible Verses for Protection

Psalm 91 NLT (New Living Translation)

1 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High
will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
he is my God, and I trust him.
3 For he will rescue you from every trap
and protect you from deadly disease.
4 He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings.
His faithful promises are your armor and protection.
5 Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night,
nor the arrow that flies in the day.
6 Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness,
nor the disaster that strikes at midday.
7 Though a thousand fall at your side,
though ten thousand are dying around you,
these evils will not touch you.
8 Just open your eyes,
and see how the wicked are punished. 9 If you make the Lord your refuge,
if you make the Most High your shelter,
10 no evil will conquer you;
no plague will come near your home.
11 For he will order his angels
to protect you wherever you go.
12 They will hold you up with their hands
so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.
13 You will trample upon lions and cobras;
you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! 14 The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me.
I will protect those who trust in my name.
15 When they call on me, I will answer;
I will be with them in trouble.
I will rescue and honor them.
16 I will reward them with a long life
and give them my salvation.”

Hedge of ProtectionHeavenly Father, I (we) ask You to place a hedge of protection around me (us). It hides me (us) from the enemy, familiar spirits, any and all demon spirits, making it difficult, if not impossible for them to effectively track or trace me in the realm of the spirit. There shall be no perforations or penetrations to these hedges of protection according to your word in Psalm 91. I(we) know that You will answer this prayer because I (we) love You and I(we) trust in Your name only.  I pray that Your blood Lord Jesus will cover me(us) and all that You have given me(us).  That the enemy will not have access to what has been given to me(us).Thank you for your divine protection in Jesus Name, Amen.

Here are some other scriptures for you to pray and meditate on and also another Prayer For Protection:

Exodus 12:13 (New Living Translation)

But the blood on your doorposts will serve as a sign, marking the houses where you are staying. When I see the blood, I will pass over you. This plague of death will not touch you when I strike the land of Egypt.

Zechariah 2:5 (New Living Translation)

Then I, myself, will be a protective wall of fire around Jerusalem, says the Lord. And I will be the glory inside the city!’”

Job 1:7-10 (New Living Translation)

“Where have you come from?” the Lord asked Satan.   Satan answered the Lord, “I have been patrolling the earth, watching everything that’s going on.” Then the Lord asked Satan, “Have you noticed my servant Job? He is the finest man in all the earth. He is blameless—a man of complete integrity. He fears God and stays away from evil.” Satan replied to the Lord, “Yes, but Job has good reason to fear God.  You have always put a wall of protection around him and his home and his property. You have made him prosper in everything he does. Look how rich he is!

  1. Yes i would agree too,i saw that thanks for your answer. God loves all peoples,,it is written,
    He is no respecter of persons.
    Kia ora

  2. Goodness gracious, how could one imagine writing, “Psalm 91 is a prayer for Christians only. This is not a prayer to be prayed for or by non-Christians…” ? The Psalm was composed centuries before there even existed Christians! It it clearly a Jewish prayer, which we Christians adopted because our first few generations were mostly Jewish, still attending Temple worship for quite some time, preaching the Gospel mostly to fellow Jews at first, and so on. Jews are by all means welcome to pray Psalm 91 (or 90 in some translations), their prayer in the first place, and still in their worship services today! Of *course* non-Christians may pray this prayer!
    All the same, thank you very kindly for promoting prayers of protection and may God put a hedge of protection around *all* believers!

    1. You said the operative word – Believers – Salvation was accredited to Abraham based on his faith and belief in the coming Messiah. This is pointing to the cross because our Lord and Savior had not yet entered the world in the flesh. So yes, everyone prior to the Risen King were able to partake in it. Now that we already know that the King is Jesus, that is what a believer is. These are what I am referring to as Christians. So, yes Messianic Jews are also welcome. There is only One name by which we are saved and that is Jesus. Blessings

    2. God loves us all. The Chosen Jewish brothers and sisters were chosen to show the world God and faith. By default because God’s chosen were inspired the prayers are Jewish, but have been adopted by the Church of God, hence adopted by the Church of God. We recite psalms daily in the Catholic Church. The first half of worship is Liturgy of The Word that includes readings from the Hebrew Scriptures ( the Old Testament for us) and then the 2nd half is Liturgy of the Eucharist ( which means Thanksgiving) where we break bread at The Table of God, The Table of Mercy. The One Supper of The Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.
      After 2000 plus years all of God’s prayers inspired by the Holy Spirit belong to all who walk in the way of The Lord and Savior. Peace and blessings to all our brothers and sisters whether they be Jewish, Christian, Catholic, Muslim, Agnostic, etc. We are all children of God. Some listen and have daily communication with God through prayer.

    3. I believe personally, the author meant this is a BELIEVERS prayer. The word tells us the only prayer an unbeliever can pray that the Lord hears is one of repentance.

  3. I have unsaved family and a small grandson who are under spiritual attack. Why am I not supposed to ask God to protect them with this Psalm? Can I really not pray this over them? I am confused. I want them safe. I want them saved. Won’t this protect them? Doesn’t God love them also?

    1. Hi Kristin, no one is saying God doesn’t love your family and loved ones who are unsaved. But it is clear this Psalm is not for them. Just read the words and you can see that right away. You are saved so you can pray for them. That’s it. This is not complicated. Ask God to cover them in protection. But more importantly it is best for you to pray fervently for their salvation. Blessings
