I believe bringing “a new copy” represents you bringing a new copy or version of yourself by you walking and operating as “a new creation in Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:17). You are to remember that your former ways of thinking, behaving, and acting have passed away and were crucified with Christ (Galatians 2:20). You are now a new creation in Christ and you are to operate in that newness and be transformed by letting Christ’s mind be in you (Philippians 2:5) by the renewing your mind (Romans 12:2). You are to “write down [your pastor’s] teaching” by taking notes and paying careful attention to the biblical instructions being taught.
