I am running happily through a carpark towards my husband and a van we had (in the dream only) with the kids. I felt something strike my bottom but didn’t take too much notice until I see an Aboriginal man beside our van with his vehicle. He has been bitten by a black snake and said they are taipans. He is self administering antivenom. I look and see a couple of black snakes near our van and another where I was running. I look at my bottom and see that I have been bitten. I say to my husband that we need to get to the hospital because I have been bitten on the bum. But he is not in a hurry nor wants to go, nor seems too fussed over the seriousness of it. We move on to a service station. A storm rolls in. The sky is lit up above us brightly like I have never seen before. Lightning is so close that I fear we would be struck. The rain is heavy and hard. I’m thinking of our tent that we are camped in. I’m thinking how it would be flooded and everything wet inside, especially our bedding. I think how we can put it into the van, it will just be an inconvenience for a short time but it wont spoil our trip. I can do it but I think about my husband not liking the situation and complaining too much so I come up with another idea. As I walk into the service station shop with my daughter, I witness lightning hitting a pump we were near. In the shop, the floor space that I’m standing on rises up and down. I’m amazed how it does not crack and so is the shop assistant. I walk out a back door to my husband but he is not there. I look for accommodation for us. Its a fancy backpackers, I see the colour blue. I walk about in it. I walk out into the court yard. There are people drinking (colour green atmosphere) and think it will not do. It wont be to his liking. I walk to another exit of the service station but can’t find him nor the van. The more I walk the more I’m unable to find my place back to where I was, even when I go right around the service station.
I awoke from this dream very aware of been bitten by the black snake. I tell my husband the dream and his reply was ‘how boring’.

Weekly, for a couple of years now, I dream of heading somewhere but can never find my way there or back. Sometimes I’m overseas and sometimes they can be places I have been in real life but does not go to plan. I have been on trains, planes, trams, buses, cars and boats in these dreams. The colours are always dark. Sometimes there is food and drink within these dreams. The results are always the same.
