Who is this word for? Everyone because I believe at some point we are all going to encounter this and we need to know how to respond. Please read 1 Kings 13 so that you can follow along with the message.

When we visit Kentucky Fried Chicken we go there because we want the fried chicken. They have a secret recipe that makes that chicken taste better than everyone else’ chicken. It’s their Secret Sauce. This is what they are known for.
What else is unique to them? The biscuit and perhaps the coleslaw. Other fast food chains don’t have that. The truth is that most people are not going there for the biscuit or the coleslaw even through it is unique to them. We are going there for the fried chicken.
Everything else in that restaurant you can get elsewhere, you can get fries, soda, little desserts, breakfast sandwiches.
Every flop they had was due to them straying from what they were created to do…fry chicken! They came out with a Nacho box, flopped….a hamburger, flopped…they even tried to jump on the healthier option trend by bringing grilled chicken, remember that one? FLOPPED! in the end the only change they could make to shy away from the “fried” was to change the name to KFC.
But why change what works? Why change what brought people in the door in the first place? Everything they attempted to do another restaurant has already perfected it and it’s their secret sauce. To try to do hamburger when we already have McDonalds and Burger King just doesn’t make sense. Instead of being original they would become a poor imitation….and that is why it flopped.
It is the same with YOU. If you think about the people in Christendom, well let’s say the famous ones there is something about some of them that makes them unique.
Many preachers out there but if you’re down in the dumps the encourager of all encouragers is Joel Osteen. Say what you will about him, that is his secret sauce.
Years ago it was Billy Graham if you were looking for an evangelist.
This is not given to all of us. It is a special thing that God has given to some. When He puts this on your life it is to be treasured and used to honor Him because not everybody has it.

I believe what attracted the Old Prophet to the man of God was his secret sauce. BOTH of them could prophesy, BOTH could hear from God but the man of God had something the old prophet did not.
1 Kings 13:4-6
4 When King Jeroboam heard what the man of God cried out against the altar at Bethel, he stretched out his hand from the altar and said, “Seize him!” But the hand he stretched out toward the man shriveled up, so that he could not pull it back. 5 Also, the altar was split apart and its ashes poured out according to the sign given by the man of God by the word of the Lord.
6 Then the king said to the man of God, “Intercede with the Lord your God and pray for me that my hand may be restored.” So the man of God interceded with the Lord, and the king’s hand was restored and became as it was before.
What was the secret sauce?
Well, he prophesied and then he said that there would be a sign and the sign happened instantly. The prophecy is not the secret sauce it was the fact that he said there would be a sign and it happened exactly as he said it would.
The nature of prophecy is that it is for a future event, but his sign was instantaneous. You see the secret sauce?
THAT is why the Old Prophet sought him out. It wasn’t the prophesy that attracted him.
BOTH can prophesy but I believe the Old Prophet didn’t have that secret sauce, the sign and the wonder that followed that proved on the spot that he was a man of God. The king didn’t need to wait to have proof that the prophesy was from God, no he got immediate confirmation.
Now I want you to imagine if he didn’t have this secret sauce, the man of God prophesies and the king says “Seize him!” What happens next? Off with his head or throw him in the dungeon, right?
He certainly isn’t seizing him to have a party! When the old prophet’ son went back and told him what happened he was in disbelief that the man of God was not dead or in a dungeon somewhere.
HOW could he possibly be walking around alive after saying that to the king?
Now he’s intrigued and the reason for that is that if the old prophet did the same thing, he would be dead! So what is the spirit that is there? Fear of Man. Which then would cause the Old Prophet to pick up a People Pleasing Spirit.
That is the spirit that he has on him. God can no longer use him. He was afraid because he thought he would die if he ever spoke out so hearing that someone had this ability to create a sign that would save his life was fascinating to him! This was something he didn’t have.
You see, you can’t call yourself a prophet of God while having the fear of man. And you can’t call yourself a prophet of God while you carry a people pleasing spirit because there will come a time when God will give you a difficult message to deliver and you won’t do it because of the fear of man and the people pleasing spirit.
Once you step into this, God cannot use you to the extent that He would like and will most likely replace you.
So, the Old Prophet wanted to sit with the man of God to find out about this secret sauce. But look at what happened, the minute he flattered him and the man of God AGREED with it, the spirit transferred.
The man of God now has no fear of God, he forgets that God told him not to eat or drink there and now he’s pleasing the old prophet by going to his house.
Do you see that?

Do you remember David dancing before the Ark of the Covenant as he brought it into the City of David? No one, no king had danced like the before and it brought criticism from his wife because she judged it incorrectly. We know king David as a worshipper so now we know that he worshipped God in all forms, he played musical instruments, he sang, he prayed and he worshipped with dance. I think he was doing this in private all the time but this time she was just appalled that he would do it in public. Not realizing that he wasn’t dancing for the people, he was dancing for his Lord and Savior as he had done many times in private. The public just got a chance to see what he does in private which was a beautiful thing.
2 Samuel 6:13 – 23
13 When those who were carrying the ark of the Lord had taken six steps, he sacrificed a bull and a fattened calf. 14 Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the Lord with all his might, 15 while he and all Israel were bringing up the ark of the Lord with shouts and the sound of trumpets.
16 As the ark of the Lord was entering the City of David, Michal daughter of Saul watched from a window. And when she saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord, she despised him in her heart.
17 They brought the ark of the Lord and set it in its place inside the tent that David had pitched for it, and David sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings before the Lord. 18 After he had finished sacrificing the burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LordAlmighty. 19 Then he gave a loaf of bread, a cake of dates and a cake of raisins to each person in the whole crowd of Israelites, both men and women. And all the people went to their homes.
20 When David returned home to bless his household, Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet him and said, “How the king of Israel has distinguished himself today, going around half-naked in full view of the slave girls of his servants as any vulgar fellow would!”
21 David said to Michal, “It was before the Lord, who chose me rather than your father or anyone from his house when he appointed me ruler over the Lord’s people Israel—I will celebrate before the Lord. 22 I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes. But by these slave girls you spoke of, I will be held in honor.”
23 And Michal daughter of Saul had no children to the day of her death.

Once you get a place of prominence in Christendom, people will start calling you. They will want you on their podcasts, on the TV show, in their conference, at their meeting.
Why? YOUR secret sauce.
There is absolutely no other reason for them to call you. There is something they saw in you that is different, marketable dare I say. Something they don’t have. Something they see the world needs. Something that makes you unique. Something that will sell tickets, books and get them sponsorships.
They want your secret sauce and the entire time you are sitting in their company they are trying to figure out how you got it? What is it that you are doing that makes you like this? Is it a particular prayer mat? Is it your “oil of make me special”? It must be the time of day you pray? Hmmm. LOL
It’s your relationship with Jesus Christ.
Why did Michal say what she did to David? She wanted him to STOP
STOP being so special. STOP standing out. STOP because I don’t know how to be you.
We can’t find a way to get rid of the fried chicken so let’s just change the name from Kentucky Fried Chicken to KFC….
This is an identity shift.
The bottom line is this, DO NOT allow anyone to tell you that who you are in Christ is not enough…that you need to be more like this… and more like that…and then more like this…
What’s happening is that they can’t be you so they try to change you…to look like them or someone else!
Once you lose your identity and now you are behaving like another person, anything goes wrong during that time that you are not walking in your God given identity, you are completely lost because you lost the original blueprint.
HERE ME, I am not talking about dirty habits and behaviors that you need to break, or sins you need to step away from…. I am referring to your gifting, talents, skills, the way in which you do what you do that is identifiable to YOU.
The reason why they called you in the first place, THAT is YOUR secret sauce. God made you special just like that and you can’t let these “old prophets” start turning you into a pretzel because they can’t replicate you! Now they want to copy and paste you as a poor version of them!
NOPE!
When you read the scriptures and it says He gave some to be Pastors, Teachers, Prophets, Evangelists, Apostles..,,how many churches do you go into and you see these people/offices operating?
It is a rarity to find all of them in one place that is because they all just blend together into what they are told to be. They lose their uniqueness.
God didn’t call us to be carbon copies of each other.
The old prophet copy and pasted himself unto the man of God and once that happened? Cue the Lion and the Donkey! (1 Kings 13:24) God doesn’t need 2 of the same thing!!!
That is the message. Embrace, your secret sauce! And pay attention that the people who generally complain about it, it’s because they can’t replicate it and when they can’t replicate it they will attempt to get you to stop or change it. Don’t do it.
