I was playing baseball….on defense….my position was left fielder. I was playing deep in left field….way back towards the home run fence. Very far from the infielders. Balls were being hit to me in a game. Side note: playing this position for me made me very nervous for the fact that there are lots of balls hit to left field and the role also calls for some very long throws (a very strong throwing arm) to get the ball back to the infield. I’m right handed…and also have an old right shoulder injury that prevents me from really throwing hard, far and accurate. Back to the dream, there were many balls being hit towards me….deep in left field…calling for very long and accurate throws needed. I remember being nervous I would throw out my shoulder every time, but I felt perfect, no pain at all and the balls were thrown with speed and accuracy….getting base runners out. I couldn’t believe it, but I kept throwing. I knew in my mind God was helping me do this….He was giving me supernatural powers to overcome my fear and doubt. No pain at all and confidence I can play the role, make the throw with God on my side.

God usually speaks to us in dreams where He knows we’ll understand the metaphor, so He is using baseball because He knows you’ll be able to connect the dots once your eyes can, “see,” the symbolism behind the different parts of your dream.
Each part is important – like how you thought you’d injure your shoulder again, or were worried if the throws would be accurate and effective due to that old injury — each point like that does actually mean something in the symbolic sense, that’s why the dream called attention to it.
The baseball “game,” probably represents your life, or a major part in your life like your career, calling, or maybe even a mission field you are called to (it could mean overall – your entire life). God has decided to put you in a very critical position – playing left field where many “balls,” are thrown that you have to catch and decide how to handle.
The balls could mean you’re in a very important decision making seat, or that maybe in the future you will hold this seat, and the things you’ll have to deal with, “the balls thrown your way,” will look super intimidating, but you’ll be able to handle them.
It was also important that you felt like you’d not be able to throw them accurate and far enough due to an old injury… the old injury could be your insecurities about being in this new position. Maybe you were hurt when younger emotionally, and now you second guess yourself or don’t “see,” yourself in that position because you know it takes someone more confident or able to execute things perfectly.
Well, God is saying you will be able to execute those things perfectly – beyond your natural ability or past your old, “injury,” because He is the One who is going to be helping your arm execute the throws!
It’s a very positive dream, Scott, about your ability to accomplish OVER what you feel you’d be able to accomplish, and your ability to do it well – getting “runners over the home plate.” Whatever new undertaking God is moving you into or wanting you to move into, you are going to be very successful at it.
Pray about this of course, and see what God says/what the Holy Spirit nudges you to think this could be about. And then take the steps in faith to act on what He tells you to do.
