This post is about God’s Voice.
We know that at the creation of the world God spoke everything into being. He spoke and it was done. So that His voice not only commands a thing but it accomplishes it as well. Selah.
Psalm 33:6-9
By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.
7 He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap;
He lays up the deep in storehouses.
8 Let all the earth fear the Lord;
Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.
9 For He spoke, and it was done;
He commanded, and it stood fast.
Imagine the world being in total blackness, He speaks light and the light is on. “Let the waters beneath the sky flow together into one place, so dry ground may appear.” With no wait time, the land appears.
Notice everything is very specific. Reminds me of when Jesus said “Lazarus, come forth” and a dead Lazarus rose from the grave and walked out. He had to call him by name otherwise the entire cemetery would be resurrected!! LOL
His voice is specific.
Do you not fear Me?’ says the Lord.
‘Will you not tremble at My presence,
Who have placed the sand as the bound of the sea,
By a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass beyond it?
And though its waves toss to and fro,
Yet they cannot prevail;
Though they roar, yet they cannot pass over it.
Every time you look at the shoreline imagine that He told the seas how far they can go and no further and they will stay that way forever. Even if there is a storm and the water rises, when things go back to normal it returns to the boundaries that God has set.
The tribes of Israel had specific boundary lines given to them by God. Territorial lines, you have them and you should be aware of what they are. Ask Him. These can change with time as well based on your purpose but I can tell you when you are where you should be there is a grace on your life that doesn’t exist when you are outside of your territory.
Your angels are there to assist when you are in your territory. When you are outside of your territory, God has to grant permission for you to be effective in anything you desire to do there.
2. Ask the Lord to command and speak into your life His will.
Genesis 1:3
3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
God wants light, there’s light. You have to really want God’s will for your life to pray this because what shows up is what HE wants for you and if you are not fully submitted to the Lord this one might surprise you when it shows up.
You can break this down into different areas of your life “Lord, speak over my finances your perfect will”, “Lord, speak over my job your perfect will”. They may lay you off the following week, but then you can say “OK, now speak over the next employment opportunity”. This is what I mean when I say you may not be aware of what is about to happen when you pray like this. It may initially appear like it is all going wrong when in fact it is going in the right direction.
Remember His voice not only commands it but it accomplishes it so things will move in the direction HE wants them to move so you need to be ready for whatever comes next.
3. Ask Him to restore the fear of the Lord in your life.
Exodus 20:18-20
18 Now all the people witnessed the thunderings, the lightning flashes, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it,they trembled and stood afar off. 19 Then they said to Moses, “You speak with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die.”
20 And Moses said to the people, “Do not fear; for God has come to test you, and that His fear may be before you, so that you may not sin.” 21 So the people stood afar off, but Moses drew near the thick darkness where God was.
When the fear of the Lord comes you are less likely to be in a sinful lifestyle because you are going to be so afraid of what the Lord will do and say that you wouldn’t dare to do something repeatedly.
Have you ever been in a thunderstorm with lightening striking everywhere? Imagine that the Israelites were witnessing this knowing that the Lord was there. They were terrified. Many times we can take God for granted not realizing the power that He holds over all of us. A healthy dose of the fear of the Lord will cause you to snap out of that quickly!
4. Ask God to speak to you so that you have clear direction on your life.
Isaiah 30:21
Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying,
“This is the way, walk in it,”
Whenever you turn to the right hand
Or whenever you turn to the left.
This will happen if you ask, seek, knock….which is a continual asking, seeking and knocking. I’m not saying that it can’t happen, but I highly doubt it will if you only asked once. I think you would have to pursue this with the Lord and then He will speak to you.
5. Ask Him to train your spirit to know His voice.
John 10:3-4
3 To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.4 And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.
The truth is that this one is not that hard, it just requires a desire to know His voice. The easiest way to know His voice (Rhema) is through His word (Logos).
The Rhema comes out of the Logos.
If you know the Logos, you’ll never miss the Rhema, they sound the same it’s just in a different format.
You will never have a word (rhema) that doesn’t line up with the word (logos) because the prophetic word comes from the Bible.
6. Ask Him to speak and remove the things that are afflicting, obstructing and preventing you from moving forward in His will.
Hebrews 12:26-28
26 When God spoke from Mount Sinai his voice shook the earth, but now he makes another promise: “Once again I will shake not only the earth but the heavens also.” 27 This means that all of creation will be shaken and removed, so that only unshakable things will remain.
28 Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe.
This is a powerful prayer to remove the beings that have a name that you are not able to battle. When He speaks, His voice is shaking everything! Not just on earth but also the 2nd heaven where these creatures reside. He speaks and they all get shaken so that what is left is the unshakeable Kingdom of God. Please be warned that when a shaking occurs everything gets shaken, so we have to be repentant before we proceed to pray bold prayer like these. Likewise, if we ask for the Light to shine in the darkness then whatever darkness is within us will also come to the light.
If you have been noticing your bad qualities come to the forefront that is God’s Light that is making it visible to you. Our response should never be to grab for the fig leaf like Adam and Eve to hide our nakedness but instead to repent for whatever we see that is not like the Lord and ask Him to change us by His grace.
What warms my heart more than anything else is the same God with the voice that thunders, shakes, speaks and the seas roll back also speaks in a still small voice to His children. He knows the right pitch, the right tone and the way to speak so the all of the heavens and the earth obeys Him while still giving us comfort.
Whenever I am feeling down, confused, unsure, upset at myself for mistakes I have made, unhappy, tired I go to Him and I have never left His presence not being completely refreshed and with a different attitude and heart posture. You just have to be willing to take the correction if that is what is needed. If you’re seeing it wrong, He’ll tell you that you are wrong.
His will is not up for discussion. So if we are out of alignment, it is up to us to realign. Sometimes when you ask He may explain why things are the way they are…but you can’t change His will.
Likewise whenever I am happy, want to discuss something and just hang out and spend time I go to Him as well. While it seems productive to ask for the things I want to know or get or to have an answer to a question, I would say that my growth comes primarily from allowing Him to tell me what He wants to tell me because it always involves something I don’t know. You can’t ask a question about something you don’t know. Therefore, I highly recommend just spending time with the Lord just to “hang out”. You will learn more about Him that way. Or just ask Him “what do You want to talk about today?”
Stillness. If you pay attention to what is happening with us in today’s society we are very over stimulated. There is so much going on that requires our attention and before you know it the time is gone, the day is gone, the week is gone, the month is gone, the year is gone…and you still didn’t do what you set your heart to do at the beginning of the year. We have the same 24 hours that Abraham had. The same. God created it day and night separated by 24 hours. Therefore, we have to be intentional how we spend the time.
If you make the time to get into the Bible, and spend time with Him, He will speak to you.

You may be wondering why I am sharing about this, well, when as you walk through life and you come across spiritual warfare it is important for you to always remember that you cannot create Light, God does that. You also cannot speak as God speaks and have things obey unless God puts His Voice in your mouth and gives you the ability to do that. And we know that we have the ability because Jesus told us “tell the mountain to throw itself into the sea”! That means you have the ability. The mechanism exists within you, but it is not being used. Why?
You know the goodly “ask and it shall be given to you” but, Nicole, I asked and He didn’t give it to me, Why is that? Because you don’t meet the requirements.,,,if My word abides in you then you can ask…LOL. But you don’t even read your bible…so you don’t meet the requirements. We want to ask separate and apart from the word and it doesn’t work.
Therefore, HE is the only one that can remove some things. This is why my first experience with the snake I struggled and was fearful. Because I was not at the place where I understood what it takes to do that. I lacked understanding and quite frankly I didn’t meet the requirements.
He had to teach me. I didn’t learn that from people, I learnt it from the Lord. In the entire time He never once said “this is how you get rid of the snake”. Not once! It started with a simple instruction “do not go anywhere that I didn’t tell you to go”. It had nothing to do with the snake but the truth is, if you can’t follow simple instructions with small things, you won’t follow instructions with BIGGER things. This is how most of us fail. We don’t obey.
I believe sometimes we feel like it will just be so much easier if someone gave us a quick answer so that we can move on to the next thing. But then, there would be no more waiting on the Lord, would there? We would have to remove sections of the Bible which tells us that if we wait we will mount up like eagles. He’s not going to remove it for you because you have no patience. Therefore, you need to align with Him. He on purpose doesn’t tell you some things because He wants you to SIT with HIM.
A lot of things were given to us when we came into communion with Christ, but there are requirements to operate in it. It is not always “I don’t have enough faith”. He found you just as you are but He never intended for you to remain just as you are. If you don’t understand that God doesn’t give this level of power to everyone, just some, then you’ll attempt to do some things and it won’t work. And you won’t understand why someone else can do it and not you.
You’ll start thinking “they are anointed and I’m not” which is not necessarily true!!!
You just read in Exodus 20:18-20, ALL the people could go up the mountain into the presence of God, but they didn’t go. Instead they asked Moses to go. That means that there was something about him that allowed him to enter God’s presence while the rest of the people stood afar off and watched. It wasn’t that he had no fear while they were afraid, no, I think it was more than that (Numbers 12:3) <<< one of the requirements.
Remember what happened after Moses was in the presence of the Lord? His face shone (the Light). There’s no way you go into the presence of God and stay the same! No Way.
It is available to all but there are requirements. Hence, many are called but few are chosen. He’s inviting everyone to the marriage supper of the Lamb but not everyone will show up. I am going to tell you about these requirements over the coming weeks when we discus Altars.
