This prophetic word for February 2021 is titled Pick Up Your Sword.  We just finished our fast which we have at the beginning of every year and during this time we interpret dreams to go along with the fast. If you missed the fast and would like more information about it, click here.  Occasionally, I come across a dream that isn’t just for the dreamer but it has a message for the body of Christ.  When that happens I ask the dreamer if I can share it with all of you with the interpretation.  So this dream I believe is a now word of the Lord for every single one of us.

Dream submitted by Kai from Vancouver, Canada

This whole dream was in 2D, which is weird – I’m not into graphic novels or cartoons and I don’t really dream in 2D. The background the whole time was bright red. It started with a suave looking man, tall, built, blond hair slicked back, broad smile, super confident and wearing all black. He had a shiny, thick sword in his hand and brandished it expertly. At first he was just standing, nose up, smiling and pivoting towards the viewer (me). Then he raised his eyebrows a few times and suddenly pulled out his sword towards me. He swung it around a few times and then marched off the “page”. I wasn’t very interested. I was tired of and annoyed by his showy presentation. I was looking forward to this part being over. Just let it finish and then you can move on, I inwardly sighed to myself.

He thought everything was going well and he had everything handled but someone was out to steal his sword and destroy him. In the proceeding cartoon strip, a hunched man in a grey-brown cape that was pitch black inside (i.e. couldn’t see him or get clear features) planned and plotted – first the caped man came to the man in black pretending to need help. The man in black believed it and “helped” him only to have the caped man trample him, insult and falsely accuse him in front of crowds, and then try to steal his sword. The man in black barely got away. The caped man was furious that things didn’t go more his way. He wanted to destroy so he planned and plotted and made the man in black his focused target.

The caped man tried to be in need of help again but the man in black was more cautious and wouldn’t buy it this time. The man in black still wanted to help but he went forward with his sword in hand, questioning, instead of strolling along giving benefit of the doubt too easily.  This made the caped man angry so he jumped on the back of the man in black and attacked him brutally beating him and wounding him. The man in black had to fight to keep his sword and then could only barely crawl away in the end.

But that wasn’t enough for the caped man; so he pretended to be all sorts of different things and scenarios, trying to fool the man in black in order to steal and destroy. Every time the man in black was beaten to shreds, worse then before. Every time he sought help the caped man was 1 step ahead of him and insulting and falsely accusing him of things in crowds of people so that no one believed him enough to act or help out. At one point the caped man did steal the sword but again this wasn’t enough, by this time he wanted the man in black completely dead and destroyed every last remanent of him.

The man in black was learning through all his mistakes but still not seeming to make much headway. Until his sword was taken. He lost everything and was a rumbled pile on the floor. After attending to some of his wounds and picking himself off the ground he sought out the caped man and fought for his life trying to find the cape man and get it back. He fought with everything he had, to a level he never thought possible and was certainly not “dignified” like his initial appearance. The man in black had extreme struggle and needed to use immense discernment to get/find the upper hand but finally did get his sword back – and was a little surprised he was able to, that he actually had more strength then the caped man (Which is why the caped man had to use subterfuge and side-angles). Then he was happy and hugging it through tears, relieved, stronger, smarter, sobered.

The whole cartoon was very simple and old-fashioned in its caricatures – slightly clunky movements, like you can see the frames going by one by one. no background (only background colour), no depth, and only the occasional “prop”. no attempt to make the images look 3d. and mostly just the two characters, occasional indistinct sneering “crowd” blob.

Interpretation

To start with the dream is in 2D which I think was God’s way of simplifying everything so that the real message is not missed.  Sometimes we can get caught up in unimportant details in a dream and miss the essence or message.  It has a red background which presents a contrast and I believe represents the blood of Jesus.  So you have this suave man wearing a black outfit. In this context I believe the black signifies power because he is overly confident in this dream.  I believe the man represents the church of Jesus Christ.  He is you and I.  He has the sword in his hand (word of God,Hebrews 4:12) and he knows how to use it like an expert so he’s a season Christian, not a new believer.  This I believe explains why he’s so confidence.

He is swirling his sword around as he’s looking at the dreamer.  If this Christian was in front of you I would imagine them quoting many scriptures, they would probably had chapters in the bible memorized.  He showing off.  Then he walks off the page.  It’s one thing to know the word and be able to quote the scriptures but when the opposition comes do you know how to use it then?  We’re about to find out…

The hunch back man with the grey-brown cape, pitch black on the inside and features are blurred (denoted deception).  This is the enemy or whatever opposition you could be facing this year.  He comes to the church (you) and says “I need your help”.  The church (you) decides to help the enemy only to have the enemy trample him, insult and falsely accuse him in front of crowds, and then try to steal his sword.

How did that happen?  Well, the church thinks “I got this!”  I know you are the enemy, but I am the righteousness of God, I can handle it.  So he’s not approaching the enemy as an enemy and then he gets abused and the enemy attempts to steal the word.  How does that happen?  So many people are out there battling situations, circumstances, lack, fear, pain, hatred, bitterness but how many are saying “What does the bible say about this?”  They are trying to handle it in their own strength and not by using the word of God.  It is as if their word(sword) got stolen, they act like they no longer have it.

The church got away but the enemy wasn’t happy, he wants him completely destroyed.  So now that he sees that we (the church) is overly confident and didn’t actually use the word when we should’ve he decided to make it the focus to destroy the church.  Because now he sees a weakness, he got a toe hold.

Here comes the enemy again, but this time the church is a little wiser, now the sword is in hand.  More cautious, approaching the enemy knowing its

the enemy.  The enemy gets mad and realizing the same tactic cannot be used jumps on the back of the church.  Here’s the question, how did he get the back?  You know the armor of God only covers the front part of your body because you are supposed to be facing your enemy. God’s glory is your rear guard (Isaiah 58:8).  He is the one who covers your back.  So we are never retreating.  You don’t run or turn your back on the enemy.  If the back is not covered then something is wrong.  Back also means sins of the past, unrepentant sins, secret sins, pet sins. Things coming in the backdoor.  Everything looks good and secured at the front of the house but the backdoor is a saloon door swinging open for the enemy to enter at anytime when there is hidden unrepentant sin.  Guess who know there’s a backdoor?  The enemy.  So now the church is wounded crawling away to save his life.

The enemy is not satisfied that the church is getting away so he proceeds to pretend to be many things to get the church involved in the fight again…do you want money?  Are you looking for fame?  How about a platform? This is just your sin, everybody sins, nobody is perfect.  This isn’t that big of a deal compared to the other things you used to do. Why wait for the Christian spouse, he’s got a good heart, you can just pray him into the Kingdom.  You don’t need to spend all that time in prayer and reading the bible, it doesn’t take all that.  There’s no such thing as the judgment of God, these people are just judging you, keep doing what you’re doing. The whole time all the enemy is doing is setting you up for the big fall.  Each time he is gets beat more badly than the time before.  Instead of consulting the Lord, you call your friends.  The problem is that they are not strong enough as Christians either so they can’t offer good godly counsel.  It’s all wordly advice but it sounds good so you do it. What just happened?  You lost your sword.  The sword has been taken by the enemy the minute you decided to solve your problem the way the world solves their problems.

The enemy isn’t satisfied that he has your sword, no, he wants to kill you.  So the church then realizing that the way has been lost by following the worldly way is now fighting to get back, looking a disheveled mess.  No longer the brilliant smile with the suave appearance.  He had to use discernment to get his sword back.  Realizing that he is absolutely nothing without the word of God.  Then he was happy and hugging the sword through tears, relieved, stronger, smarter, sobered.

Discernment – Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

We discern by using the word of God.  This is how we know good from evil.  It’s not because someone told us what to think.  Everything you face in life can be solved by reading your bible. What does the bible say about this?

The Message from the dream:

Do not be overly confident when it comes to the enemy. Always seek God for the strategy to defeat the enemy.  The worse thing you can do is under estimate the opponent.  Just ask Goliath (1 Samuel 17). Make sure you close all the back doors. Unrepentant sin, hidden sins, secret sins and also the doors to people who lead you to sin.  Just ask Joshua defeated at Ai because of Achan’s sin (Joshua 7).  Most importantly, don’t lose the word of God in your mouth and in your heart.

Psalm 119:11 “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”

The first thing the enemy did was try to disarm him, take the sword, why?  Without the word of God you will never succeed.  It contains every principle needed to succeed in life.  If he can take that from you then he has stolen your pathway to success.

Joshua 1:8 “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate thereon day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”

The Word of God is Jesus Himself manifested on the earth.  If you lose the word, you’ve lost Jesus.  That’s why the man hugged his sword and cried at the end.  He knew what it felt like to feel a separation from God and that is the most awful feeling the world, especially when you once knew how it felt to be close to Him.

John 1:1-4, 10-14 KJV

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

By obeying the Word we look more and more like Jesus.  Because Jesus is the Word. This is how we go from glory to glory and become transformed into His image.  When we see Him we will all look like Him because we look like the Word (1 John 3:2). So it matters not whether you’re black, white, purple, green or pink with brown or blue eyes because we’re all going to look like Him when we obey His word.
Now if you read this and you feel like you lost your sword, you are feeling that separation from God and wondering how to get back, it is really simple pick up your sword(the bible) and start reading  John 1 verse 1 and read until God says something to you then stop and reflect on that.  And everyday from this day forward you continue reading where you left off the day before.  That’s how you find your way back.
Blessings

  1. Amen and Amen Hallelujah. This is so apt with what the Spirit of Truth has been showing me.
God bless you abundantly for your faithfulness in delivering the word as He directs you.

  2. Wow. This dream is my life and your interpretation is spot-on. I’m now at that stage of reading The Word and reading and reading once more.
It is my understanding that The Word, strengthens your spirit. Without it, you’ll be robbed blind and beaten senseless.
Thank you. You just confirmed that I’m on the right path.
    Blessings to you.

  3. Amen, Word of truth.
In late 2020 God gave me a dream warning about being blinded by compassion. If we fall for every cry-wolf, not only will we be stolen from but also side-tracked and delayed from our destinies.
Thank you for sharing this dream.
