Prophetic Word – Delay vs Timing

prophetic word for today

This is a prophetic word for today and it is titled Delay vs Timing.

You’re giving the devil too much credit!

Have you ever had a promise, you were sure it was from God and then it never happened when you thought it should.  What’s going on?  Is it a delay from the enemy or is it a timing issue?

What creates the delay?  Will it ever happen?  Sometimes you lose hope because you just don’t see how it could possibly happen?  Then you start to wonder if you are missing out because your timeline is off!

Let’s examine this.

I asked the Lord to talk to me specifically about delay.  I wanted to know how it happens, why it happens, what determines when we break out of it and what if we did miss the opportunity, will it come back??  Yes, I needed an explanation for what is going on with this.

He already shared with me a few weeks back that there was No More Delay.  He gave too many confirmations from the lives of many others who saw that word and sent in emails with testimonies.

I’m going to share what the Lord shared with me as He walked me through this message.

He took out a clock and pointed to it and I heard  Psalm 31:15 “My times are in Your hands”  Read this scripture in several versions and you’ll see it was David asking for deliverance from his enemies and this word “times” is Hebrew eth (Strong’s 6256) which is appointed time & seasons.

Point #1 – the seasons of your life is determined by no one else but GOD. The enemy has absolutely no control over the season you are in.

Then He said “I can stop the time and I can accelerate the time!”  Then immediately 2 stories came to my mind

Joshua was fighting a battle and needed more time.  God stopped the sun from going d0wn and gave him the time he needed to win!! (Read Joshua 10)

God can stop time!  He made the time and He can stop it if He so chooses.  He is SOVEREIGN.  And if you never believed in the sovereignty of God before, now is a good time to start

Psalm 135:6 TPT

He does what He pleases, with unlimited power and authority,
extending His greatness throughout the entire universe!

The second story that came to mind was Elijah getting supernatural speed, girding up his loins and running faster than a chariot. (1 Kings 18:44-46)

The scripture says the hand of the Lord came upon Elijah and he gained supernatural speed.  So what would take you 5 years to do you can do it in 2 weeks when God’s hand comes upon you.  Acceleration of time!

God is in charge of your Times and Season.  God can stop time.  God can accelerate time.

Then I said what about the delays?  How does this happen?

3 Sources of Delay

  1. God
  2. The Enemy
  3. You

Yes, I said YOU.  There are times when you are actually creating your own delay.  How?  God told you to do something and you haven’t done it!  Therefore, He can’t give you what you are asking for until you do it.  I don’t think you need a scripture for this.  Just do it so you can move forward.

God created the delay – back to the story of Joshua.  Stopping the sun from setting is delay.  God created a delay so that Joshua can have victory.  Ask God “Lord, have you created a delay in my life so that I can actually win?”  Make sure you get an answer.  Some of you are about to miss a deadline on stuff and He needs to create circumstances to give you extra time.  Read this word – God stopped the clock for me.

The devil created the delay.  Why?  Because he’s figured out how amazing your life is about to be, he’s figured out your destiny and purpose is going to create a huge problem for his kingdom, he’s figured out that once you get that promise in your hand it’s over for him.  How did he figure it out?  He’s sees the anointing on your life and realizes you are too determine and disciplined to forfeit the blessing so he finds a way to slow you down OR you talk too much.

My goodness!  Some of you created your own delay by just talking too much.  Just read Joseph’s story.  And the problem is once the cat is out of the bag, those devils come after you everywhere you go because that spirit just transfers from one person to another to make sure you get stopped!!  That jealous envious spirit that was on his brothers transferred to Potiphar’s wife and then to the 2 that he met in prison that just left him in there.

Same spirit, different person.  Because your war is not against flesh and blood instead it is actually a spirit that you are fighting which can manifest anywhere at anytime through anyone that the enemy can use.  So if you think by getting rid of this one person it will be over, pay attention to other people you meet as they might have that same spirit on them.

Sometimes you open your mouth and things could get worse (Samson).

If you read any of the Gospels you can see the pattern of Jesus performing miracles, especially in the early part of His ministry, and telling the recipients not to go and tell anyone what He did.  Why?  Because His time had not yet come.  There was a timing to the death, burial and resurrection and getting information out that He was the Messiah, that He was performing miracles was causing too much attention to come His way.  This attention then led to them wanting to kill Him, prematurely.  He had to turn into an escape artist near the end because it wasn’t time for His death and too many people knew by then because other people were telling it…the same ones He told not to say anything. He didn’t want the unnecessary warfare!!  So He told them not to tell anyone.  Because it wasn’t time.

I don’t know about you but I can do without the extra warfare.  You may tell it to one person and that person may tell it to the national enquirer, now you have major warfare over that.

You may be saying I’ve already told it what can I do?  Stop talking about it.  Don’t bring it up anymore to anyone anywhere.  Just shut down the chatter.

So now, what is the source of your delay?  This is something you need to examine within yourself and with the help of the Holy Spirit.

Then the Lord showed me something very intriguing, the delay is not the problem it is what you do in the delay that is the problem.  He pointed me to 3 stories of what happens when we are delayed:

Pitfalls of delay

Because we get tired of waiting and the delays, we can get ourselves into some serious trouble that have lifelong ramifications.  This is where you really need to be careful.

God pointed out 3 stories to me:

  1. The Israelites who couldn’t wait for Moses to come down from the mountain, so they built the golden calf (IDOLATRY – Exodus 32).  Where is Moses, God? Why is he taking so long?  So then they take matters into their own hands and “create” something to appease their flesh.  If we create something through the flesh we will need to maintain it through the flesh and that will get pretty exhausting after awhile. That created thing is going to be nothing but problems.
  2. Abraham and Sarah couldn’t wait for the promise so DOUBT and UNBELIEF cause them to settle for Ishmael.  Sarah never believed that she would have that child.  She was barren for years so what was going to change?  The delay coupled with the unbelief was a recipe for disaster. (Genesis 15-18)
  3. The story of Saul making the sacrifice instead of waiting for Samuel (1 Samuel 13). He knew that he wasn’t to make the sacrifice but because Samuel didn’t show up when he should’ve, Saul decided to do it anyway.  His environment was caving in on him, he got scared and he decided to act…in disobedience.  As soon as he did it, Samuel showed up to tell him that he will lose his kingdom just because of that.  Wow!  Guess what?  It was a TEST.  The delay was a TEST.

You know what? What if COVID, quarantine, lock down is just one big test for you to see what you will do?  What if your delay is just one big test to see what are you going to do???

Listen!  Do not forfeit your promise because of how you are acting IN your delay.

Now, for the GOOD PART….

The Lord said to me “Delay has been washed in My blood, I fixed it

It doesn’t matter how long it will take, it is going to happen when it should.  Because, our times are in His hands.

At some point delay must intersect with the Timing of God.  It MUST!

There is an intersection that must happen.  It’s like you are taking a flight from Miami to New York and you need to be in New York by 5PM January4th, you can either go direct on January 4th and get there at 5PM OR you can open your mouth, tell the wrong people and have to leave on January 2nd go from Miami to San Francisco fly down to Atlanta change planes, go up to Seattle, back down to Houston, then to Washington DC and then into New York at 5pm on January 4th.  The whole time you are complaining about changing planes and you are exhausted because you had to sleep overnight in an airport because…you opened your mouth too soon, your made an idol, you failed the test and had to retake it, you didn’t believe it.  The point is that you are going to get there when God says you need to be there.  You can’t change the timing.

I know we love the acceleration words but the truth is you can’t change God’s timing.  He only accelerates you to move into His timing if you are falling behind.   He is sovereign His timing won’t change.  You only get a suddenly when the suddenly falls into His timing.

I don’t know about your god but let me tell you about my God…  He’s not a puppet that I can somehow sway or move His timing by my prayers, my tears, my fasting, by prophecy, or by someone else’s witchcraft or sorcery.  No! I don’t control Him.  And, no one else can either.

The only thing that we can affected is HOW you get there.

Let’s go back to Joseph.  The only thing that would’ve changed in Joseph’s story is HOW he entered the palace.  Joseph need to be infront of the Pharaoh interpreting a dream of 7 years of plenty and 7 years of famine and then be chosen to be the Prime Minister so that he could be in position to save a nation.  That was his purpose.  Because he opened his mouth he got there via being thrown into a pit, sold, into prison and then he went in front of Pharaoh.  The other option could’ve been him just riding up to the palace gates in his father’s chariot.  There was another path but his mouth messed him up.

The Delay doesn’t stop the Timing.  Please catch it.  Delay has to intersect with the timing.  Why?  Because our times are in His hands.

Let’s go back to Sarah.  She needs to have Isaac exactly when she has Isaac, not 10 years earlier or 20 years earlier as she was hoping she would.  WHY???  Because Isaac needs to marry Rebecca and Rebecca wouldn’t have been born at the time.  Rebecca has to be at that well to water those camels on that day and if Isaac was born earlier, that’s not going to happen!!!

The Delay doesn’t stop the Timing.  Please catch it.  Delay has to intersect with the timing.  Why?  Because our times are in His hands.

He is Jesus of Nazareth but He had to be born in Bethlehem to fulfill the prophecy in Micah 5:2.  So God has to create a scenario at the right timing for Mary to give birth in Bethlehem because God’s word doesn’t lie.  The timing has to intersect with the prophecy.

You will be where you should be, to get what you should get, when the Timing is right.  No amount of Delay is going to stop it.  Stop giving so much credit to the devil for delays. It doesn’t matter anyway!

So while we may not like delay, delay doesn’t change a thing!  That is what you need to know.  God will move whomever and whatever out of the way to get you to your promise when the timing is right.  Stop focusing on the delay and start making sure you are ready for that intersection with timing.

In the prophetic word for 5781/2021, I said that God was handing out judgement and blessings at the same time which I’d never seen before.  But in that moment I knew, He couldn’t wait for the judgement to end to start the blessings because He has to accelerate some of you now to ensure that you make the intersection.  He’s going to do what He needs to do to get you there on time.

I’m going to take it a step further and say this, if the thought has ever crossed your mind that the delay is somehow going to make you miss out on something or lose something because you are somehow not where you should be…the answer to that is NO.  You’re not missing a thing!  What you are suppose to have is waiting at the intersection of your timing.  It’s not there before.  IT is going to be there when you get there and not before.

So you’re not missing out on anything in your delay.

Barrenness.  As painful as this must have been for Ruth, never had a child with her first husband.  Why?  Because she was suppose to have a son with Boaz named Obed who happens to be David’s grandfather.  Obed.  It was all about Obed.  No delay.  No missing children, no missing sons or missing daughters.  No, just Obed.  You are not missing a thing in your delay.

Isaiah 14:27

The Lord of Armies has planned it. Who can stop it?

Psalm 16:5-9

Lord, I have chosen you alone as my inheritance.
You are my prize, my pleasure, and my portion.
I leave my destiny and its timing in your hands.
Your pleasant path leads me to pleasant places.
I’m overwhelmed by the privileges
that come with following you,
for you have given me the best!
The way you counsel and correct me makes me praise you more,
for your whispers in the night give me wisdom,
showing me what to do next.
Because you are close to me and always available,
my confidence will never be shaken,
for I experience your wrap-around presence every moment.
My heart and soul explode with joy—full of glory!
Even my body will rest confident and secure.

Blessings!

  1. This has made me understand that what I see as a delay is actually not a delay, it’s me trying to rush things before the set time of the lord. I have messed up a lot but I didn’t know it’s all about the timing of the lord.
I Thank God for this insight
    blessings.

  2. This is sooo comforting and encouraging. I received a word about the Lord using me in a certain sphere in 2019. ( No timelines given, I assumed it would happen in 3 months ) LOL! I then recently (2020) received a prophetic word that that sphere had been stolen from me. I have been going through a hard time blaming myself how did I not realise that the word was stolen? thinking perhaps that the words were false, maybe it was actually stolen, thinking I had misinterpreted the word etc. This word is comforting, encouraging, but most of all enlightening, I have learnt something new. and it has changed my mindset Thank you so much and God bless you

  3. Thank you for this! The thought of “missing out” on God’s will puts pressure on me that I get agitated and anxious to hear His voice. I just end up getting restless and having an even harder time to hear God.

  4. Amen!
I have been thinking about delay as of late and when thinking about it with the wrong perspective can make you feel like your missing out and you can get very impatient. This was an encouraging word to know that, regardless of the “times” or “seasons” we find ourselves in…God always finds a way to get us where we need to be. Our flesh want to get there sooner but our spirits and hearts know that the process is where the pruning takes place and that can be painful because usually God reveals to you something IN you that must be replaced from something negative to something positive in Him. I’m learning that timing has everything to do with God’s will. I shouldn’t rush anything but allow things to be designed by God. We just need to trust in Him more. Please pray for me, that I practice patient and joy and faith in Jesus name. God’s will be done.

    Thank you !

    1. This right here….Our flesh want to get there sooner but our spirits and hearts know that the process is where the pruning takes place and that can be painful because usually God reveals to you something IN you that must be replaced from something negative to something positive in Him….So true! This is exactly what is happening in that delay and we have to choose not to take the route of those pitfalls. Blessings.

  5. Wow!! This is so encouraging. sometimes am left in shock/numb at the great, goodness of the Lord. God is amazing. Thank you for this word.
